ariksis there a way to color entire blocks of code? based on indentation level. or perhaps curly braces
okdavinciYes, I think so.but I didn't know how to get access it
:h syntax :h hl maybe helpful
arikshaven't had much luck in there
okdavinciit's a better choice to have a look at the synatx file written by somebody else
dkariks: is your indentation level absolute or relative?
strollerhi, i've found some issues with skill.vim syntax
when i make a change to the file it doesn't seem to affect my vim editing
anyone know how to make these changess to the file active?
i'm editing /usr/share/vim/vim70/syntax/skill.vom
SAS_Spidey01Probably source it?
strolleron an FC6 machine
source it?
SAS_Spidey01Might be useful to read: :he ru
And what on earth Fedora has to do with it I'd never know ^_^
strolleri'm edting the original in place, shouldn't it just get looked at when i start a vim editing session?
SAS_Spidey01If you start a new instantce of vim I'd expect it to be loaded like norm
strolleri always make a point mentioning which i'm running when i converse on these kinds of issues, don't you?
(which os)
SAS_Spidey01If its applicable
strollerwell, more interestingly..
the skill.vim file has lots of problems but the email mentioned in the file doesn't exist anymore
SAS_Spidey01I'd think a :ru $VIMRUNTIME/syntax/skill.vim would *probably* reload it in the current vim
strolleri'm happy to fix it and provide the list with a new version. who would i send it to?
ok
i'll try that
SAS_Spidey01any luck?
strollerno
i've commented out the definition for "for" and it still autoindents "for"
a little strange, this is in the runtime area, i'd have expected changes to this file to be immediate
interestly though, when i mv skill.vim to skill.vim.old nothing gets highlighted
so it does seem to be looking for that file
SAS_Spidey01interesting
strollerhmm
this should be easy
dkstroller: if you can't locate the maintainer send it to vim-dev and offer to take over maintainership
strollerok
first i'd like to test my changes though
hmm
dkstroller: secondly, don't edit it in $VIM copy it to ~/.vim/syntax/skill.vim so it'll survive upgrades etc. ;-)
