yuriksHey
is there any way to make vim use hjkl as movement jeys when I hold CTRL while in insert mode?
gnuvince_yuriks: use imap
imap <C-h> <Left>
But I wouldn't recommend it
yurikswhy not?
gnuvince_Ctrl-K is used to insert digraphs
Ctrl-h can be used as a replacement to backspace
yurikswhat are those? =P
nah, I just use backspace
gnuvince_Let's say you want to write "cole" but you have a US keyboard
yuriksI dont
gnuvince_<C-k> e ' will insert a
There are a bunch of others, see :dig
Ctrl-J is alternate for Enter
yuriksand my terminal supports that natively anyway
just use enter
gnuvince_anyway, like I said, you imap
yuriksnow I need to find a good mapping for Ctrl-N on the left side of the kb
Nyoxiconcerning the <c-h> it's not 'replacement', it's the key itself, so if you remap it you backspace will cease to work, or, well, will actualy do what you have just remapped it to
yuriksor I can just use both hands to type C-N =P
Nyoxi: hmm, my backspace continues to work ;)
I guess I must be one of those weirdos that has C-? as a backspace
Nyoxiyou're using ^? for bs then ... shame on you :)
yurikswait... O_o
apparently it's not C-? either
Backspace works, C-H doesnt's, and C-? does nothing
amazing, I use something else =]
Nyoxiand we are talking about vim, not gvim, right?
gnuvince_Map C-n, C-p, C-f and C-b :)
yuriksthat or my keyboard doesn't makes Ctrl-Shift-? =S
Nyoxi: backspace is indeed C-? (checked with C-V), I guess my keyboard doesn't let me type it
actionyuriks is wondering wether he shuld use HJKL or JKL
yuriksis wondering wether he shuld use HJKL or JKL
Nyoxiwhy don't you just get out of insert mode?
yuriksNyoxi: ESC is akward to press
and still
actionyuriks is wondering wether he shuld use HJKL or JKL
yuriksis wondering wether he shuld use HJKL or JKL
Nyoxiuse <c-]> then
calmaryuriks: or bind it to caps-lock or so
Nyoxiif you like ctrl that much
