cacruswhat spec fiel ?
Zathrusoh, and if you're on 4 and want vim7, there's RPM's on kbsingh's website. I occasionally bug him to put it in his repo, but he (understandably) doesn't like replacing base packages.
the one that is in the RPM -- you can either extract it yourself or download the SRPM and look at it from there
kick_it's more likely that you've got bitten by the fact that for UIDs < 100 vi=/bin/vi (no syntax hl) and for UIDs >=100 vi=/usr/bin/vim
... on FC/RHEL/CentOS only
cacrushmm
jamessanuh, how's that?
ZathrusKick_: really? Heh. I just alias vi=`which vim` :)
jamessanthey actually check the uid in the shell startup script?
kick_just because sometimes sysadmins have to edit something when /usr isn't mounted
cacruswhere is this test uid<100 vi=/bin/vi ?
kick_another reason is that p.e. that recent modeline security hole.
cacrus: /etc/profile.d/vim.sh
actionZathrus always forgets about the /etc/profile.d stuff
Zathrusalways forgets about the /etc/profile.d stuff
cacrusmy /etc/profile.d/vim. does not have this test
Zathrusmine certainly does
kick_cacrus: nothing like `/usr/bin/id -u` -le 100` ?
cacrusnope
kick_hmm
cacrusit has $BASH_version test and alias vi >/dev/null 1>&1 || alias vi=vim
that's it
kick_looks like an old version
cacrusthis is centos 4 release 2
