Chap00linthorat<> thanks
zeeeeehi all, any outlining tools available that are more like wysiwyg bullet outliners rather than tvo/vimoutliner (which have strange, ad-hoc outlining formats/semantics)? example of what i mean: http://rafb.net/p/KnWInh33.html
thoratChap00lin: yw
kisielkzeeeee: hm, I'd like something like that
I think I used vimoutline before
zeeeeekisielk: me too

chiehhello, is there a way to replace an entire word with the current buffer?
for example if i yank a word, now i want to replace another with the word i just yanked
tpopeclever use of visual mode
vep
for example
chiehwow that is cool
so e is to highlight the whole word?
derynie is a motion command, :help e
tpopetry also viwp
chiehthat's what i use to use
but vep is much better :)
thanks :)
bartelanyone know where I can find the K&R vim header?
jzxuhow do I get the current value of the statusline option?
deryni:set statusline or :echo &statusline :help options
jazzrockerbartel: the what?
bartel: are you talking C style guidelines?
barteljazzrocker: yea just the standard c vim settings?
jazzrockerbartel: so uhhh, what exactly do you want? source formatting?
bartel: K&R is a style type, what do you want to do?
bartel: K&R relates to how you type in your code... i don't really see the relation to vim
less how, more when
e.g. do you hit <ENTER> before or after your curly brace... etc etc
barteli was more intereted on tabstop/expandtab...
or is that irrelevent
jazzrockerbartel: that's pretty darn irrelevant
bartel: i don't know if K&R have a recommendation on tab size or tabs/vs/spaces
barteljazzrocker: gotcha
jazzrockerbartel: i personally use real tabs sized at 8 spaces
bartel: which is the recommendation of Linus Torvalds, creator of Linux
bartel: but that really has no bearing on whether you put your curly brace on the same line or the next line... and personally i can't stand same line braces
bartel: back in the day when you had a max of 3 chars on your screen, i suppose that extra line really made a difference... but now with monitors having the resolutions they do... it's not an issue
barteljazzrocker: i see, I dont know how I got the idea that k&r actually had preferred vi settings
