yuriksHey
how can I change the syntax used for certain file types?
I want .asm files to use the nasm syntax
jcsmithhi all, is there anyway to put something in my .vimrc to create my backups and tmp directories if they don't exist?
mgedminhm

yuriksany way to patch one line of a syntax file, or do I need to copy the entire syntax to my home and edit it there?
I want to change

praetisnumbah: you do realize that after inserting a blank line with o<Esc> you can repeat that with the period '.' key...
numbahsure
praetiskeybindings are really only useful for cutting down keystrokes in repetitive tasks, but in this case you can't really cut that down any further ;)
numbahjust do not see the usefulness of a shorter set of commands though
but if you need to repeat then..
praetisoh whoops, I meant to send that to masterdriverz
masterdriverz: you do realize that after inserting a blank line with o<Esc> you can repeat that with the period '.' key...
yurikshmm, if I put a file in ~/.vim/syntax/after/nasm.vim

actionyuriks adds a debug echo
yuriksadds a debug echo

yuriksecho "HELLO THERE HOW ARE YOU JUST IFNE UH?"
praetisyeah that'd work
yurikshmm, I added a "q" and it didn't work =|
