Xenguycosmodad: ctrl-^ ?
cosmodad: :ba
cosmodadXenguy: sorry this is over my head
Xenguythat kind of stuff
cosmodadI'll just copy & save that and get back to it when I'm more professional :)
Xenguycosmodad: :ls lists the different buffers being currently editied
cosmodadok
what about the rest?
Nyoxicosmodad: ever heared of :help command, huh? :)
Xenguycosmodad: 2Ctrl-^ goes to a particlar buffer number
cosmodad: :ba means 'buffers all', and splits the window into multiple smaller windows for each buffer that exists

Nyoxithat's especialy fun with 50+ buffers =)
Xenguyheh
cosmodad: so you can see everything at a glance =)
Nyoxiwell
whatever :)
cosmodadI only have this 14'' TFT...
but I get the idea
so how'd you decide on whether using buffers or tabs? taste?
scroolooseello chums
Xenguycosmodad: you can have as many buffers as your memory can contain, and show which ever ones you want at any given time
cosmodad: try both (I haven't yet ;-)
Nyoxi14" is lots of space, enough to fit two working windows, minibufexplorer and tag list ;p
balodja14" is enough, once you have an appropriate resolution :)
Xenguycosmodad: buffers is the old way, tabs are the new -- you get to play and choose :-)
rcbarnesis there a way to run two commands on an : line? (ex. :hardcopy and :q successively in one command)
cosmodadso this is an old vs. new skool issue? :)
Nyoxicosmodad: it's not a matter of taste, tabs are good if you need more space, think of it as another view on your workspace, however people tend to abuse it and have one buffer in each tab
Xenguycosmodad: to some extent, but it's not really a 'versus'
Nyoxiwhich is nonsense, for you can switch buffers as easy as you switch tabs (or even more easily)
Xenguycosmodad: it's just history and habits :-)
cosmodadNyoxi: why would you consider it abuse to have one buffer per tab?
ok
deryniBuffers and tabs are not the same thing.
actionXenguy listens...
Xenguylistens...
Nyoxipeople think they got new feature, ie access to multiple files simultaneously, but this feature is in vim for ages (yes, it's the buffers)
frogonwheels:buf myf<tab> with 'wildmenu' set is my favourite.
cosmodadderyni: so what's the difference?
deryniA tab is a view into your buffers. Buffers aren't per-tab.
