I then asked instructions on how to undo the update and get back to the previous ALSA version, and the instructions given left the...

tripwireso I installed Ubuntu edgy last night, and managed to update it and get beryl working on it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get twinview to set my 2nd monitor higher than 640x480 (useless). After a few hours of screwing around with it, I figured out that the nvidia "readme" was way off, and that nvidia's display utility was looking for the wrong information in xorg.conf.
