?

Flanneld2dchat: ah, yeah. Those are good packages, build-essential is another useful metapackage
Sleepy_CoderI feel special somehow. I didn't quit. :p
crdlbbl4cktone: no, the desktop cd can only be used for a clean install
Sleepy_CoderAlso: http://rafb.net/p/JbLc5c34.html
hitmanWillybl4cktone: you need the alternate cd
effie_jayx!automatix
ubotuAutomatix2 is a script that tries to install some software, and often fails and breaks systems. We don't provide support for it, and we strongly discourage its use. Problems caused by Automatix are often hard to track and solve, and it might sometimes be easier to !install a fresh copy of Ubuntu. See also !WorksForMe
crdlbbl4cktone: and even with the alterate cd, you have to upgrade through edgy
Flannelbl4cktone: You need to go through 6.10 as well
crdlbso you go dapper>edgy>feisty
effie_jayx!worksforme
ubotuCommon Sense: Just because you can, does not mean you should (and especially recommend to others). Think before you do. "Works for me" does not mean it is ok. The latest version of everything is not always useful if you aim for stability.
D2DChatFlannel: I installed all of the packages latest stable versions, but i think i should bring down the metapackages too
rtfm_4can anyone point me to internet install information ?
sotec_prodIs this the official Feisty channel now?
Flannelsotec_prod: it is
teerI'm working through an install on a RAID0 (striped) disks. (They show up as two disks, not one as they should.) I found this link that identifies this as an issue with the Ubuntu installer. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FakeRaidHowto
D2DChatFlannel: what is weird though is the version for irb is like 1.8.2 and the best version is 1.8.5
Flannel!install | rtfm_4
uboturtfm_4: Ubuntu can be installed in lots of ways. Please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation for documentation. Problems during install? See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CommonProblemsInstall and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DapperReleaseNotes/UbiquityKnownIssues - See also !automate
sotec_prodawesome

sotec_prodAnything useful or just cool that's third party that anyone can recommend?
bluefox83why is there really no help for NFS in ubuntu?
sotec_prodevening crdlb
Flannel!nfs | bluefox83
ubotubluefox83: nfs is the network file system. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SettingUpNFSHowTo for information on installing and configuring NFS.
bluefox83yeah that is about as helpful as a hole in the head
