_gtt_puppy - DMA ?
Nubbie_gtt_: they are if you give correct permissions to the folder.
Puppy_I'm using NTFS I think.
Jason_when is the new ubuntu comeing out
Nubbie!dma | puppy_
bettspPuppy_: ntfs-3g is really slow because it's in userspace
ubotupuppy_: dma is Direct Memory Access/Addressing. It makes hard disks & optical drives transfer data faster, and is almost always enabled in Ubuntu 6.06. For more info see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DMA
_gtt_nubbie - what do i need to make for the permissions ?
IowaDavegtt: first thing i'd try is modifying the share settings using System > Administration > Shared Folders
combatmodebruenig http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/16338/
Nubbie_gtt_: it has to be writable by others.
IGxMyztanyone? Second monitor?
wastrel_gtt_: try adding read only = no in the [global] section of smb.conf
BHSPitMonkeyhey all.
wastrel_gtt_: or in the section for that share, either way :]
Puppy_thanks Nubbie and bettsp!

bruenigcombatmode, your third party repos are giving you some problems
bettsppuppy_: It's a hack, but boot into Windows, then start VMware and load Ubuntu, then use Samba
kitcheBHSPitMonkey: dpkg -L I believe
hairulfrIGxMyzt: No, on a dual dvi vid. card
bettspMuch faster
IowaDavegtt: Nubbie is right, and needs set for parent folders as well?
_gtt_wastrel - didn't try it in global, but i have read only = no and writable = yes (why are there two?)

lloy0076Does the Linux "lo" interface attached to the loopback address respond to ALL loopback addresses and not just the one shown by ifconfig lo? I can ping 127.0.1.1 despite that fact that my lo says it's 127.0.0.1...
IGxMyztHairulfr, not possible on 2?
