wazeszi try to set it at 1280x800
l90bpmhad that problem w/ suse.. wanted to break something
try another card
eckwazesz: i have used this for 1440x900 http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/10736/
l90bpmif you have one
eckthree is probably some other magical command for that resolution
mattyvchalmer: Not so much a wizard, the System > Admin > Networking tool should be all that's required in most cases. You could try a program called Network Manager Gnome, if your card works with it life will become very easy
wazeszcool thanx eck, i'll check it out
ecki'm not really sure how 915resolution works
buddhadoes sudo aptitude install whatever install the librarys auto.?
mattyvchalmer: Are you using dhcp?
chalmermattyv> yea
eckmaybe if you replace the 1440 and 900 by the numbers for your res?
wazeszme neither lol..i just follow the direction on forum
chalmermattyv: the card works cause i had it n another comp w/ windows
eavawterI'm trying to get my wireless card to connect through belkin F5D7231-4 and keep getting the message from the firewall on the router "1 blocked by DoS protection. Anyone know how to fix this problem?
wazeszoh yea i get that error
Intel chipset detected. However, 915resolution was unable to determine the chipset type.
eckhm
wazeszChipset Id: 29a08086
mattyvchalmer: Last thing I can think of is to manually put your DNS server addresses in. Did your ISP gives you 2 IP addresses for DNS? If so, go to the Network setup dialog and click on the DNS tab.
l90bpmwell yeah.. w/ windoze.. mine did too.. but my integrated absolutely will not work in linux.. so I have two cards installed.. the on-board.. and the extra
mattyvchalmer: yeah I'm sure the card works, you wouldn't be able to ping google otherwise
wazeszmaybe i810 driver doesnt support that type of intel gfx
eckwhat model is that?
wazeszGMA 3000
chalmermattyv: o ok
Lgndryhrwazesz try this here ----> http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=262236
wazeszthanx lgndryhr
chalmermattyv: it must b ubuntu
eckeavawter: if you don't have any windows machines on your network, you can just drop the firewall on your router
wazeszi'll check it out
l90bpmthats just how I had to do it (the lazy way) got tired of flipping back and forth from static ip's to dhcp etc. nothing ever worked
Lgndryhrand here -----> http://users.bigpond.net.au/hermanzone/p7.html
Cryoniqeavawter, that is not a problem, DoS stands for Denial of Service, if I place it in the correct environment
eavawterunfortunately I have xp as well eck
mattyvchalmer: yeah almost definitely a DNS issue
Cryoniqeavawter, You really want to deny DoS and what is defined as DoS attacks
mattymonkeyanyone else notice the live cd runs *really*really* slow?
eckCryoniq: yes, but the firewall probably thinks the linux computer is trying to attack the network and is dropping it
