PedroSPollywog: nop, I'm just trying to help a new ubuntu user :)
AprecheTheVault: Yes. Trust me, I've been using Linux for 6 years. This is a kernel-level ACPI problem.
tman_ubuntubriguyd, duh. i checked my xsession-error log and it showed an error with nautilus. It was nautilus that need restarting. i'll log out and back in and make sure it restarts on it's on now.
ep2011Thank you Hansel.
Hanselnp
TheVaultApreche: Alright then ya know what your doing. Iv been using Linux now for 3 weeks
Pollywogoh yes on Nautilus it is ctrl-H
briguydtman_ubuntu, cool
AprecheTheVault: lol
Pollywogjust learned that one myself
tman_ubuntui'll let u know what happens.
TheVaultApreche: And three weeks without using Windows may I add :)
briguydchris_, in your file browser, hit control-H
TheVaultApreche: Trying to make a full month without using Windows
AnxiousCo"sudo fdisk -l" is this all I have to do to have have it detect the new HD?
ep2011Hansel: If after this defrag all the freespace is together, then I should install?
killermachbwlang: they want to translate their website
HanselI have been using Linux for about 10 years. I have been completely Windows-free at home (at work I have to use it) for about 6 months now.
LamegoAnxiousCo, that is to check if the disk was detected, not to detect it
Hanselep2011 - yup.
steve_Lynoure: i guess i dont mind if it puts it back to fulfull a dependancy, as long as it doesn't take out the -28 kernel and start the problem again
TheVaultHansel: Congrats :)
AnxiousCohmm, how do I detect it?
ep2011Thanks.
AprecheSo, does anyone here know how acpi stuff works?
Lamegoit should be "detected" by the kernel during the system boot
HanselAnxiousCo, - do you want to mount the new drive every time you boot?
greig__does linux have some kind or remote access built into it to allow someone to access and control my pc?
Lamegodo you see it listed on fdisk ?
HanselAnxiousCo, if so then you need to make an /etc/fstab entry.
TheVaultI myself finally, after weeks of playing around on the LIVE CD, I got my WIFI to work with my broadcom chipset
LamegoHansel, he is not sure the disk is available yet
ICQnumberhi ppl, where can i find any examples how to use streamripper?
AnxiousCoI want the drive to just be readable, all it is is music and video files and school files
soundraygreig__: not Linux per se, but ubuntu does.
AnxiousCoso do I want it to read it every boot time?
steve_but i guess the best solution woudl be to find out if something needs -27 and maybe get rid of that prog
ICQnumberi just have tried kstreamripper, but it was not working for me
greig__sorry yes i ment ubuntu
bwlangkillermach: well.. probably they'll want to change their keyboard then. system->prefs->keyboard
