mykkis the rest causing this problem too ubm?
BUMBACLOTwhat's gonna happen if you cum twice in a day?
IndyGunFreakmykk: i really think you should try the alternate install CD
bruenigblindraven, gentoo is not "better"
mykkalternate?
IndyGunFreakmykk: its a text based installer(don't let that scare you, its not hard)....
mageblindraven: gentoo installs everything from source, so any "stupid distro" assumption problems go away, as long as theres an ebuild for what you want
tonedevfhi all
ubmmykk take IndyGunFreak's advice try the alternate install cd if the setting the screen resolution 800x600 dosnt work. but i think its the VGA settings that are hosing up the system
mageblindraven: gentoo was great when portage would sync in a reasonable amount of time
blindravenah ok
[187ci]marcedit your xorg.conf
IndyGunFreakmykk: sometimes when pc's have probs with the regular installer, the alternate install gets them through it.
magealso you need to keep it up to date, which means lots of CPU time compiling
mykkwhere can i dl the alternate cd?
bruenigthe !alternate was pointed to mage and his lvm raid stuff
tonedevfcan someone help me with two (hopefully) quick questions? one a basic shell script question and one about cron
blindravenso the servers that let you collaborate slowly dissapeared?
bruenig!offtopic | blindraven
ubotublindraven: #ubuntu is the Ubuntu support channel, #ubuntu+1 supports the development version of Ubuntu and #ubuntu-offtopic is for random chatter. Welcome!
knovakTo upgrade to Edgy or not to upgrade: this is the question
shall I?
magemykk: its in the directory with the other isos
bruenigknovak, do you want to
IndyGunFreakmykk: http://www.ubuntu.com go to the download section, and then download something like Ubuntu 6.10 Alternate install.iso
ubmmykk you could do what the rest of us do and smash your hands into the keyboard, bang your head against the monitor a few times... its worked for me...
krielhey. can somebody help me fight through a sound patch? I got a new laptop that isn't supported by ubuntu's built in sound system, and i found a patch that's supposed to alleviate the problem, but im not entirely sure how to implement said patch.
knovakDapper works fine for me, but there are packages that I want to install that dont have dependencies under Dapper
magebruenig: I actually installed ubuntu with the bootstrap script
knovakand they are in Edgy
BUMBACLOTcan you run MacOSX on intel?
magedebootstrap
knovakso I figure, why not just go the whole way
