obsethryla question, regarding the jacklab repository. When i try to add this via the link found in http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_YaST_Package_Repositories#JackLab for opensuse 10.1 i get the following error: Unknown Error: Can't provide //media.1 from http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/jacklab/SUSE-10.2 <-- this is the error
err
benJImanmarckie: just remove those two from the line
obsethrylopensuse 10.2
benJImanmarckie: or remove it using yast
brentapt-get for non-interactive pm, aptitude for ncurses, synaptic for gui, and dselect for prearranged installation profiles
benJImanobsethryl: maybe the yast repo is corrupt, try the yum repo http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/jacklab/SUSE-10.2/RPMS/
marckiecant use yast... its not starting... im desparate... i might reinstall... wata waste of time... huhuhuhu...
benJImanobsethryl: btw that's the 10.2 repo not 10.1
obsethrylthe repo installs if i put a trailing RPMS as a user suggests in #jacklab but there is no key imported, is that considered normal behaviour?
brenton suse, like, what is rug? and red carpet? and zen? and yast? I'm just not sure how they all tie in together
benJImanmarckie: what happens when you try and start yast
brent: rug is command line frontend to zmd stack
obsethrylyes i know, i have opensuse 10.2 with opensuse 10.2 repos, my typo has been corrected above
brentok that clears up alot
marckieit just ask my password then kapuch! nothing happens...
benJImanbrent: http://en.opensuse.org/Image:Package-management-in-code10.png
lontramarckie: can you start it from a terminal?
marckiei tried the fix above and the error appears
brentbenJIman, thank you!
marckienot tried... hows that?
benJImanbrent: in the future everything is talking directly to libzypp and not using ZMD in openSUSE
brenti've been looking for some kind of explanation like this all morning!
lontramarckie: open up konsole and type sudo yast
brentthat sounds great, it really does. i'm looking forward to the next suse release
obsethrylbenJIman: i still get a warning about unsigned material in the repo you gave
brentand I've always thought that the sled guys are the ones doing most of the desktop innovation lately, it's just the package management that was really stopping me from using suse
lontraobserthry1: you need to inmport the key
benJImanobsethryl: should be able to ignore it
obsethrylbenJIman: is this supposed to be normal behaviour for this kind of repo?
benJIman: is it possible that it requests key import during first attempt to install or it is unsafe to use?
lontraobsethryl: not if you import the key
benJImanobsethryl: the signing/key stuff is a security measure, prevents malicious mirror admins from injecting trojans into repositories etc
obsethryli know what the keys are fore
for*
lontracan someone tell me a fast ip address to install opensuse via the internet on?
my mirror is going extremely slow
jengelhso choose another one
obsethrylmy question is this, since it is the first time i am to use this repo (jacklab). Unlike the others i have added via yast, there is no key import during its original setup in software installation sources, is that considered acceptable behaviour?
lontrajengelh: when i choose another one it gave me an error when i entered that ip address
