fatty 120gig hd that i need to save info off of, and i cant access it. funny though that the ubuntu live cd can access it :-\
insufficient rights this, bill clinton that...
also i cant seem to gain super user mode to install new video drivers
|doje||Frosty64: if you added the hdd after suse was installed, it won't mount it automatically. you have to set it in yast partitioner or edit /etc/fstab|
|Frosty64||doje: it is an NTFS partitioned HD also, I failed to mention that|
|doje||in that case you can mount it read only - for write access you have to install a driver|
|Frosty64||read only is fine|
old windows partition that needs files saved off it.
|doje||if you want to use the gui: go to Yast control center, system, partitioner. click the ntfs partition, click edit and change the mount mpoint|
usually those are mounted in /windows
|Frosty64||that under "fstab options"?|
or the blank box under that, that says Mount Point?
|Frosty64||will i need to reboot for it to mount correctly?|
|doje||i don't know - i'll try here and tell you|
|Frosty64||guess i shouldnt have mounted it in /dev/ since i dont have the rights to view it there|
|doje||Frosty64: Yast will mount it when you apply|
no, don't mount in /dev
mount it in /windows or /mnt
|Frosty64||even in /windows i dont have permissions|
tis a locked folder?
but we are making progress, it is showing up now heh.
|doje||oh, i think I know - suse 10.2 ?|
|doje||go back into partitioner, edit the partition and click that fstab options button|
|doje||put this in the arbitrary option value: users,gid=users,umask=0002,nls=utf8|
|Frosty64||yeah, thats already there|
