replikantlike b000=c000?
dagbrownThe last 8K or so of memory was mapped to a portability library.
linojwhat is Xen? having trouble googling it
Skizas in VM?
1google xen vm
dagbrownhttp://www.csbruce.com/~csbruce/cbm/transactor/ <- HOLY CRAP THAT'S AWESOME
Skizonly vol 4-9? hrmm.
replikantdag: no it was kinda in between.. 4k rom, 4k ram again... and that first 4k rom could be turned off since it just contained basic
Skizstill cool beans. makes me want to pull out an emulator
replikantbut the first 1k ram were totally reserved
followed by 1k ram of screen memory (which you could map around)
dagbrownreplikant: You could turn off all of the ROM if you wanted, BASIC and Kernal.
linojSkiz: ah, its not rails or ruby specific
replikantreally?
dagbrownThere was a big sort of homebrew patch kit published in COMPUTE! magazine that first copied the Kernal to RAM, then unloaded it, then patched it to fix a bunch of bugs.
linojtoo low level for me :)
replikanti actually dont think we mean the same...
the first page of memory (1k) had a few hardwired things
dagbrown256 bytes wasn't it?
replikantlike keyboard for example
dagbrownAnd oddly, CPU registers
replikantit was mirrored there yea wasnt it?:)
snakesqznsi lost a good portion of my youth typing in games like Lunar Lander from magizines like that
replikanti still commodore staff should be shot but it was such a fun machine:)
dagbrownYou could poke into a memory location and then say SYS 65490 to print out the character
replikant+think
nah
peek
dagbrownNo poke
peek to read, poke to write
replikantpeek got you the memory figure
snakesqznspeek is read
replikantpoke put it there
sys called it as machine code
dagbrownYou know what 65490 is, don't you? It's $FFD2
replikantits been a while:) i dont remember:)
colour?
dagbrownNo, the Kernel vector to print out whatever character's in the accumulator.
