Michael_BoutrosThe AJAX methods in Rails literally blow my mind.
everytime i use one and it works sexily i just want to run around exclaiming my joy
too bad i dont have any geeky real life friends :P
dagbrownI have geeky real life friends!
_deselby9_hi
have hard time setting capistrano up
well I guess its mongrel cluster this time
Michael_Boutrosdagbrown: i dont have any, instead i bore my best friend with all the details :P
(yes. i still have best friends. get over it. :P)
catch23what's the proper way of calling render to write the generated html into a file?
pderr, what should i be linking for a 'logout' link with restful_authentication? link_to 'logout', session_url, { :method => 'delete' } is working from one controller but not another, and i can't figure out why
carterparksMichael_Boutros: we all hate it
pdi need an id, but i'm unsure what id i should be handing session_url()
catch23ah nevermind, render_to_string does it!
carterparksthere's a LOT of inconsistencies in rails
Michael_Boutrosmore than in php, and that says a lot!
how can i do an if() inside of link_to_remote
i want it to say turn off if grades.include_overall == 0 and versa
pstickne_Michael_Boutros, not even close to the horrors of PHP...
Michael_Boutrosalmost :P
pstickne_Not even close
catch23isn't link to remote a prototype thing? guess you'd have to use prototype stuff
pstickne_PHP can't even use arrays directly from return values
Michael_Boutrosyeah, thats not what i meant though, i meant as in how functions are named, camelCase or under_scored.
the order of arguements.
its scary stuff.
carterparksMichael_Boutros: absolutely
but its not something easily changed that's the problem
you change it and suddenly you're breaking apps
Michael_Boutrosyep, thats the problem with such an easy learning curve
but i feel for the developers of the language
they get people moaning and groaning all day about these issues, and they dont udnerstand what it would case
carterparkswell it seems dhh has no issues of breaking code between major releases
so perhaps 2.0 will clean up some of this
dagbrownMichael_Boutros: You know, PHP's camelCase/studly_underscores thing is WAY WAY WAY less consistent than Rails
carterparksoh no doubt
rails is much more consistent than php
mostly because php never had good OOP support
Michael_Boutrosyep, but where it hurts it hurts.
carterparksit was super hacky
