mcarrhave you tried the inplace file upload thing?
that link i posted?
robotpokei did
mcarri think i'm gonna start with that
robotpokenot from that link but from a similar one
oomwrturobotpoke: i don't even know what to look for, an unhtmlescapeify function or something? lol
mcarrany good?
robotpokethe "invisible" iframe wasn't invisible in firefox if i remember correctly. or maybe it was IE.
oomwrtu: you may be looking for the function h()
which escapes strings for html
oomwrturobotpoke: ok, let me try that
robotpokemcarr: either way, it didn't look good at the time and i've been looking for the "simple" way
AngryElfanyone, gruff, come on.... :)
robotpokeonce i became too frustrated i typically moved on.
AngryElf: i'm not familiar with gruff.
oomwrturobotpoke: mmm, wrong direction, is there an opposite to that function? i am storing the $ in the db but in the select field it is putting out &amp#36; which is not correct
AngryElfno negative votes
ReinHevening folks
robotpokeoomwrtu: you may want to check out gotapi.com to see. i'm not sure if there is. any reason you're storing the html escaped sequence in the db instead of the ASCII characters themselves?
ReinHoomwrtu: if you're using h() on it as you should, you'll have to store the character itself in the database because the html escape will itself be escaped by h()
oomwrturobotpoke: do you think there would be any issues with symbols like the Euro or Yen? i can imagine that outputting the $ sign is pretty universal...
ReinH: k
AngryElfReinH, have you used Gruff?
ReinHie <%=h '#' %> will become &
AngryElf: just to toy around
thoraxecan you create a temporary variable inside a partial?
AngryElfcare to entertain something most likely trivial?
mcarrya
oomwrtuReinH: right, do you see any problem outputting the currency symbol directly w/o using it's ascii code?
robotpokemcarr: here's the site i was mentioning earlier: http://sean.treadway.info/
AngryElfinstead of using send_data with Gruff, how can I send an image back with RJS -- currently it's sending a bunch of jumbled stuff to my view "PNG IHDRX" etc. etc..
robotpokeah, i understand your question better now
mcarrrobotpoke so are you combining that with the mongrel upload tutorial?
or is the iframe problem still bugging you
robotpokei'm working on getting the mongrel upload tutorial to work with my app and multiple mongrel instances at this point
ReinHoomwrtu: what does h( '' ) get you in a view?
AngryElf: hmm, good question
robotpokeAngryElf: you need to change the headers on the html response
that will force the browser to set up the file to be downloaded.
i forget how to do that but i think that is what you want
