someoneoutthereguys do you think it's good to store GET and POST requests in params?
you don't need any magic rikkus , it does it automaticly
charlesmanybody?
jeremydurhamrikkus: that's the default
rikkussomeoneoutthere: For some reason, it's not happening to one of my views... but I made it myself instead of using script/generate... perhaps that's why?
someoneouttherehave you put it in views/layout/
?
rikkusI have views/welcome/index.rhtml but views/layouts/application.rhtml isn't applied to it
jeremydurhamsomeoneoutthere: what's wrong with it?
someoneouttherejeremydurham: well, I ask you guys, whether it's ok for you
jeremydurhamyep, great for me :)
someoneoutthereare there other files in your layouts folder?
jeremydurham: kool
rikkussomeoneoutthere: yes, admin.rhtml and index.rhtml
jeremydurhamI do the same as people like jstew do; case request.method; when :post ... etc
rikkuslooks like neither of them are being used, from the generated html
jeremydurhamrikkus: do you have an application.rhtml? :)
someoneoutthereif you put there files with your controllers' names, rails will use them for those controllers instead of application.rhtml
jeremydurhamrikkus: because if you don't, that's when you'd need to specify
rikkusjeremydurham: yes - and it gets applied to other pages, such as views/station/index.rhtml
someoneouttherejeremydurham: k thanks, I kinda new to all of these
rikkussomeoneoutthere: I see - but I don't have a welcome.rhtml, so I suppose I'm safe from that
someoneouttherewell I guess yer
that's weird
jeremydurhamsomeoneoutthere: no biggie; sounds like from the world of php; you'll like it
someoneouttherejeremydurham: yea
rikkusIs there some kind of 'explain' mode, where rails will tell you what it will do when you request a certain URL?
someoneoutthererikkus: maybe you just render text from your controller? and not from views?
rikkussomeoneoutthere: WelcomeController has only index, whose body is: '@stations = Station.find(:all)'
I'll try script/generate and see if that fixes it - then compare the two sets of files
someoneouttheredo you use development enviroment?
rikkus:
rikkussomeoneoutthere: zsh + vim :}
someoneoutthererikkus: no no, I mean rails can run in development, test and production enviroments
which one do you use?
if it's in production then maybe it just got cached, I dunno
rikkusoh I see
I didn't alter it, so I guess it's still in development - will check
tpopeit is
lisaare there any noncrappy Rails webmail solutions?
