|fitheach||benchmarks? you can get a lot of benchmarks from mysql and postgresql fanatics showing that each database is the better, faster, and so on :)|
|chapel||so need speed and data safety|
im not too familiar with the technical aspects so yeah
|fitheach||you can have both from mysql and postgresql. I personally prefer MySQL for most of our projects.|
|chapel||of the db's that is|
|fitheach||it is fast, it is easy to administrate and I am still looking for a project that doesn'T fit it.|
if I would do financial stuff, I think I would go with Oracle or Postgresql.
|chapel||well im looking at each option|
but the nice thing about rails
is... unless its an odd db, i can use it, at any time, without much if any alterings
|fitheach||exactly. that is the reason why we have choosen to use rails, and always start with sqlite/mysql in the development phase. And later on we see, what else we need.|
so far, no migration to anything else then MySQL has happend except in one case, cause the customer requested Postgresql.
im looking for a decent editor to use for rubyonrails any suggestions?
TextMate for Mac OS X
|sampbar||im using windows|
|InaraTheKitten||InType or Editplus works for me on Windows|
are they actively developed?
|InaraTheKitten||the first one is.. but is still in early beta|
|InaraTheKitten||it's kind of like a "clone" of TextMate|
|sampbar||0k radrails seemsto have stopped developing though|
|Phoop||InType is the best editor for Windows imo, developers really listen to their community|
|InaraTheKitten||and new versions released on a regular basis|
Editplus has been dead for years
|sampbar||it means that any features which werent fixed before they stopped will never be fixed|
|InaraTheKitten||and I really love the bundles/snippets found in TextMate/Intype|
|Phoop||On my work I use InType, at home TextMate|
|sampbar||ok im gonna have a look at intype now|
|InaraTheKitten||makes me ten times more productive|
