actioncarterparks guarantees you that your beloved postgres would be giving the same fits
carterparksguarantees you that your beloved postgres would be giving the same fits
aroonicarterparks: well i dont know whtas up with webrick, but mongrel works great
carterparkscool
lisacarterparks: nah. pg_host.conf has trust all all local
heh!
most insecure postgres server EVAR
carterparkspostgres is on the huge list of things to toy around with
today was rubycocoa
lisacarterparks: Postgres is wonderful. a much appreciated change from MySQL
carterparksMySQL has a faster SELECT though, right?
i'm sure that varies based on the actual query
psticknewho cares about a slightly faster select... if you did, you'd be using sqlite! :p
carterparksbut pg does relationships better?
lisamysql has a lot of data integrity deficiencies that, as a result, lead to increased speed
psticknemysql is like the PHP of databases O.o
lisalol
actioncarterparks shudders
carterparksshudders
lisapstickne: what's worrying is when companies write high volume ecommerce sites using both of them
pstickneWhat's more worrying is that people expect them to be used... O.o
lisalol
mysql isn't so bad if you don't need ACID compliance or data integrity
of course if you don't you're better off using a flatfile
carterparkspstickne: scariest is php + mysql + RAID 5
pstickneI gave up on mysql because of the blatant stupidities like wrong quoting and concatenation operators
lisacarterparks: are you a RAID1+0 fan then?
carterparksyep
shafiredo you know a firefox addon, that dims the webpage content???
singamayyashafire: just put an absolute div, width 100%, height 100%, opacity: 0.9
shafiresingamayya: yeah i want it
InaraTheKittenso, does that mean that I should stay faaaaaaaaaaaaaar away from MySQL for my projects?
shafirebut it doesn't work on framesites singamayya
singamayyahmm
in that case, put an empty div on the main frame page
when you need to dim, just resize the div using JS
carterparksif you're using migrations is there any real difference between postgres and mysql in terms of actually knowing and using the db?
