pstickneBex_3000, iframes.
RenfieldIs there something I need to configure so that the javascript knows how to construct URLs?
mistergibsonpstickne: k, that's what I thought, but its behavior is unexpected http://pastie.caboo.se/50861
psticknemistergibson, http://pastie.caboo.se/50862
mistergibsondoh
<slaps self>
psticknemistergibson, I often use the fact that if failing_cond; end ... results in a nil
mistergibsonpstickne: k, thanks :)
psticknemistergibson, and since you'd do if whatever? ... then nil is just as good as false because it's a "false value".
mistergibsonok
mod_cureif i have a helper file for my controller, will rails to make the helper functions aviable to me in the application helper file ?
RenfieldDoes anyone have an example apache config for using a local apache server with rails?
RubyPantherRenfield: that's rather general
RenfieldHow more specific do I need to get? I have apache installed on my computer. I want to use rails with it. The only apache config examples I can find use VirtualHost. I want an example that works on a local apache install.
Right now I've replaced the VirtualHost with an Alias directive. But that doesn't allow the about link to work.
RubyPantherI assume it must be apache 1.2 then? lol
RenfieldApache 2.
RubyPantherI wouldn't have guessed that's what you meant by "local", but... if you want it to work just with regular cgi (slow), then all you should need to do is turn on AllowOverride all
and the .htaccess in public will do the rest
you can pretty much copy everything else you need out of there if you don't like using the .htaccess
RenfieldI've already got AllowOverride all. I can see the main rails example page.
When I click on the about link, that's when it blows up. Says not found and in the Apache logs it is trying to access an incorrect path.
RubyPanthermaybe the documentroot is wrong
RenfieldI'm not using the document root. I have an Alias directive.
RubyPanthertry the rubber chicken?
RenfieldNever mind. I found a web article. Needed to search on 'apache alias rails' to find it.
david_chey everyone, quick plugin question
for some reason script/plugin install won't work (on locomotive on my local computer)
is there some way to install manually?
sgroverRenfield: Sorry, I'm late into the conversation. A proxy problem with apache to rails?
david_ci put all the files in the /vendors/plugins/ folder but that doesn't seem to do it
ypSamiwith habtm tables, is there a way to control which model is first in the name? for instance, is there a way to make projects_people and make it people_projects easily?
ReinHypSami: yes, you can specify the name
see the API
Check the rails API! http://labs.parkerfox.co.uk/ruby.search
ypSamiReinH: oh my god. <3 for that API search
ReinH:)
Renfieldsgrover: Nope. It was a necessary configuration to public/.htaccess needed to allow using a local install of apache with Alias instead of VirtualHost.
RubyPantherdavid_c: it should find stuff there, so maybe there is some other problem?
david_cthat's what i figured.... but i've got init.rb in the right place (i think?) so i'm not sure what the problem could be?
