olaffanyone use capistrano?
ExxKA_thom_.. Sux..

when i deploy
psticknetype something in
olaffcant..
psticknealthough, it might be easier if you set up your ssh keys correctly
or use that ssh-remember-whatever that I never get working
olaffhow would i go about getting my keys set up correctly?
pstickne`man ssh`
_thom_okay, if I'm using Mongrel and ruby 1.8.5, whare my options for using ruby-debug?
Akuma_i'm kinda confused at how the reaper script works. its looking for pids? i've never had to deal with pids before, what keywords can i use to learn what i need?
psticknemany daemons save their pids to a file
Akuma_pstickne: is there a standard place that they save it into?
psticknedepends on system. /var/run seems popular
Akuma_pstickne: and how can i tell them to save them inside my app's dir hierarchy?
psticknedepends on the daemon
Akuma_pstickne: i see
asdxi have a table with some relationships, when i do User.find(:all) or User.find(1) i see the id of the other table there, how can i get the data from the other table
Akuma_pstickne: i guess then if i dont control the server i can forget about reaper, eh
pstickneAkuma_, it really depends on the specific application you're talking about
Akuma_pstickne: the fcgi processes
pstickne: i thought that was what /script/processes/reaper was all about, no?
psticknenever used it
Akuma_pstickne: i can't seem to find documentation for it on google.
pstickne: thanks
bucky1hey, im trying to setup a filesystem structure and want to use acts_as_tree for the Files model and a seperate table called DirTree for the parent_id and child_id..how would i do that?
mistergibsonruby n00b question: is it better to return nil instead of 'false' or 1 instead of 'true'?
RenfieldHello.
psticknemistergibson, huh?
Bex_3000hey folks - can anyone tell me if a file field in a remote form can be done?
pstickneBex_3000, it can't be.
Bex_3000mines being treated as string :S
RenfieldI'm trying to set up rails to work with my local apache install. I have managed to get apache configured so that I see the default rails web page.
pstickneBex_3000, you can use iframes like say, gmail, but not AJAX--security reasons.
mistergibsonpstickne: yeah, I know... my should-be-simple if then method is to return true or false
psticknemistergibson, use nil/false/true as they make sense. but please don't use 1 to mean true.
RenfieldBut when I click on the about link, I get an error message "NOt found". And the apache logs show that it is trying to access a file in my document root, which is not where I installed rails.
Bex_3000pstickne: so there's no work-around with ajax then?
psticknemistergibson, as 0 is also a "true value"
