ben_hwhere a :counter_cache update runs an 'update foo set bar = x where baz = y', an update_attribute re-sets every value in the row - not just the one that was changed/
mongrel + pound is doing the job for several big hosts
or possibly pen. mongrel + some load balancer anyway
TheOutlanderwell i meant it should inheritently be able to serve more
ben_hwell, no
it's not intended to serve multiple requests at once
the whole point of it is that it's a lean package that serves one request at once. then you chuck a (also lean) load balancer in front of it like pound and you're set
TheOutlanderi dont understand ... isn't that an overhead ?
ben_hapache forks multiple threads anyway, afaik
lakbuchrislo, some controllers need to access that same method too
Chouserjomz: "cp -a" keeps permission flags and stuff, yes, but it also recurses and copies all sub-directories.
ReinHlakbu: search for "helper" here:
Check the rails API! http://labs.parkerfox.co.uk/ruby.search
dimi3ReinH: Awesome :)!
ReinHjust make sure there isn't a better way to do it
(there probably is)
jomzoh i tought it did that by default
ReinHdimi3: yw
dimi3ReinH: about: lines.values.first[:name], I was iterating trought the params with each but that's nicer
saileshhello
fjshI have an utf8-encoded table that I'm fetching data from, only the problem is that the data itself is encoded in ISO-8859-1 so all swedish letters turn up as question marks.. how do I fix that? I've already tried string.toutf8 and several other methods
actionMoRaO we

vrinek502i have a problem with model relationships
i have videos and video types
videos have a belongs_to :video_type and video types have a has_many :videos
ReinHvrinek502: ok
vrinek502i did a scaffold and no video type entry appears in the movies edit/list/show
ReinHvrinek502: it won't.
Scaffolding doesn't understand associations
vrinek502what do i have to do to get a drop down menu?
ReinHvrinek502: write it yourself.
gasp.

ReinHuse collection_select, find out about it here:
Check the rails API! http://labs.parkerfox.co.uk/ruby.search
vrinek502also <%= film.video_type.title %> does not work
fjshhmm... just in case I need to repeat myself: I have a problem with encodings
vrinek502fjsh: i had some with unicode but fixed them
fjshok.. well in my case I have a table encoded in utf8
vrinek502i think i declared both the database and the tables to be unicode and that was it
