USSJoinWith EventMachine-- it appears not to be sending anything if I make more than ten simultaneous connect attempts. Any idea why?
hypnos22so
i don't think i'm retarded
but
if i declare a model like User::PrivateMessage, am i implicitly saying that User is actually just some random constant name and i really shouldn't also have a class called User
rmulligahypnos22: By model do you mean activerecord model?
hypnos22oh that's embarassing
yeah actually i do
rmulligaI think the way ActiveRecord does things like that is.. User::PrivateMessage means app/models/user/private_message.rb is the file it should be in... could be wrong though.
wazinstalled ruby gems then gem install ruby-activeldap, all went well and gem list shows ruby-activeldap, and it's dependencies. RUBYOPT=rubygems is set, irb, require 'ruby-activeldap' fails as does most of the dependencies but not all
teferiwaz: i think you mean RUBYOPT=-rubygems
not just rubygems
wazahh, let me try that
but require 'rubygems'
had the same error
teferidoes it fail, as in raise an exception?
because returning false isn't failure
kiba-kun_hmm
wazLoadError: no such file to load -- activerecord
teferiwaz: try active_record
wazwoot
so how do you know do use that
gem list doesn't have the _
teferiadam$ ls /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.14.4/lib/
active_record active_record.rb
kiba-kun_activerecord
teferiwhen in doubt, look at the gem's installation :)
jmhodgesyeah, its a pain in the ass
wazbut doable
thanks
was causing massive confusion
kiba-kun_gsub(c,/.rb/)
hmm
actionkiba-kun_ doesn't know how to match string pattern
kiba-kun_doesn't know how to match string pattern
jbcSomeone tell me about lazy evaluation in ruby
teferijbc: ruby isn't lazy
that's about it
jbcew, so I need explicit ifs?
teferihm?
