TheDracleC++ is just butt ugly.
kyevan(Slight enough not to matter on modern embeded systems, iirc)
TheDraclePerformance isn't a realistic issue between C++ and C.
zorglu_TheDracle: this is true:)
TheDracle: but i prefere it to C, due to the object thing and the strict typing
TheDracle: this make large project much more manageable
my experience at least
kyevanzorglu_: So why not use a higher-level language with strict typeing and objects?
TheDraclezorglu_, You'd love D.
kyevanBut anyway< I'm going to go blow up some TIEs. Or something
zorglu_TheDracle: well i use only common language :)
TheDraclezorglu_, I strongly suggest you try it out, I think it would replace C++ for you.
zorglu_, Well, ruby isn't so common, or at least wasn't until Rails :p
Kopf_Anyone want to help someone learning the language with a statement i cant figure out?
TheDraclezorglu_, The commonality of a language isn't a vindicating factor.
zorglu_TheDracle: no matter the merit i want my stuff to 'go on working'
TheDraclezorglu_, In fact, it lets you know your language is getting shitty enough that companies are willing to look at it.
alteregoKopf_, ask don't ask to ask.
zorglu_TheDracle: well it is important to ensure your stuff stays 'alive'
TheDraclezorglu_, Just try it.
zorglu_TheDracle: and ruby get a lot of exposure with rails
TheDraclezorglu_, Right, if it wasn't for rails then, you wouldn't be using Ruby?
zorglu_TheDracle: i wish i still had time to look at stuff for fun :)
TheDracle: nope :)
TheDraclezorglu_, So it took a crappy web-ap development framework to bring you to the language?
zorglu_TheDracle: i learned ruby to use rails
Kopf_I've been reading the Agile Web Development with rails. Part of the code for adding a product to a cart reads as follows:
TheDraclezorglu_, Suddenly ruby turned into a viable language overnight because somebody made an API for it.
zorglu_TheDracle: wow saying that rails is crappy :)
TheDraclezorglu_, Well, in relation to 'everything' else that exists for Ruby, and ruby itself, it's nothing special.
zorglu_, And yes, I've used Rails, even professionally.
zorglu_TheDracle: the point is : to write a website using rails is MUCH faster than with alternative
Kopf_current_item = @items.find {|item| item.product == product}
TheDraclezorglu_, Right, my only point is, Ruby was awesome 'way' before Rails.
zorglu_, And D is awesome WAY before whatever ap brings corporate attention to it.
zorglu_TheDracle: ah yeah, i dunno ruby :)
TheDracle: is D closed to c++ or ruby/python ?
closed=closer
TheDraclezorglu_, C++, C
zorglu_, It's like... C++ the way it should have been implemented.
