normal-chars-onlAnyway it allows loads of threadlet (I think thats what they call them), I'm not sure how recursion would be handled thou.
pstickneno idea what you're talking about :p
runixthe stackless python :p
oGMoactually can't you sortof emulate tail optimization in ruby with procs?
i've never tried it, but i'm guessing it should be possible
runixwill loops then be noticable faster than recursions in ruby, if there isn't really any optimization on recursion?
oGMofor big enough iterations probably
normal-chars-onlThere is an optimisation module for ruby to allow for return removal for tail optimisation.
It doesn't burn thru the call stack and hence you can write recursive code that doesn't blow the stack
iceman8good night
HannesPcan i read about all planned features for future versions of ruby somewhere?
oGMoyes, but you'll need a flux capacitor
mitsuhikoHannesP: read the source
or ask what you're looking for
but don't expect an up to date list
there is none
HannesPokay :)
slapahoi know this is a rails inspired question but it's more abou tproper ruby/oo. when i access the params method within a controller action, do i need to do self.params ?
GarethAdamsno
kedare_Hi all
slapahowhy not
kedare_i have a probleme with Ruby , i try to use it as a CGI Script , but i get this error (for all script) : Premature end of script headers
GarethAdamsself just means 'in the current object'
and that scope is searched after the local scope alreadt
oGMokedare_: you're doing something wrong
GarethAdams*already
you only need self.params if you have a local variable called params
kedare_oGMo, no :/ example script on rdoc do the same error , ALL scripts do the same error ...
GarethAdamswhich would be a bad idea
slapahogareth, but self.params is more proper no?
GarethAdamsnot really
slapahoparams will find self.params but that's just because there isn't a local params var
but what it eventually finds for params, IS self.params
params is an instance method no?
kedare_oGMo, the server is built on Webrick
oGMokedare_: sorry you're not giving enough information... you're using 'cgi', apache, ruby what version?
ahh
GarethAdamslooking for something in self is so common that it's considered redundant
oGMoare you using a webrick servlet or the file servlet?
(...and serving a .cgi)
