Brendfree-zombie, clearly it is not impossible. become.py does exactly that.

KRFBrend, oh... simple :). ty
ironfroggytry the progressbar module
KRF: that was for you
KRFBrend, that doesn't work for me, how can i realise that?
ironfroggytry flushing between the writes
or, as i suggested, the progressbar module.
ldleworkHello
ironfroggyyo
ldleworkLong time
ironfroggybeen a bit. what have you been up to?
ldleworkParents finally gave me the boot so I've been moving around. Finally set up with one of my friends. Looking for work. How bout yourself?
ironfroggyhmm... easy_install works, but easy_install-2.5 gives me a missing header file. what does it even need a header file for? (pyconfig.h)
ldlework: just moved myself, but it was more on purpose.
ldleworkto texas?
ironfroggyno, north carolina
ldleworkhmm wernt you going to texas somewhere?
KRFhttp://mail.python.org/pipermail/tutor/2005-February/035428.html - ah, there it is. thank you :)
ironfroggyi was, but not now. at least, not right now.
hmm.. looks like the progressbar host is down
as in, the hostname doesnt even resolve anymore. anyone have the progressbar module?
sabookyok this is driving me nuts. not sure what i'm doing wrong here. i have a list a=['foo', '[blah][boo]'], i'm trying to expand it out to ['foo','blah','boo']
[l for l in i.split("][") for i in a] doesn't work
ironfroggysabooky: why do you have that?
sabookywhy do i have what?
moldysabooky: '[blah][foo]' sounds like you are using a string where you want a list
sabookythe original list?
ironfroggywhat do you have a string like that?
sabookynah i'm parsing file names "title vol blah [credit][year].zip"
sometimes they don't space out credit and year
ironfroggydo you know that its always exactly that pattern?
sabookythe list is title.split()
SpCombsabooky: you have to get rid of the [ and the ] as well
sabookyironfroggy: no its not always garenteed. list most files are "title vol blah [credit] [year].zip" with them spaced out like that. but every now and then u got one thats joined
