nesl247ironfroggy: Thanks
haysAnyone here use gentoo?
ironfroggyhays: not for a couple years. im free!
hayswhere does one move on from gentoo to? heh... just wondering if anyone else here has done a 2.5 install in gentoo
ironfroggyhays: to a state of actually enjoying the use of a computer again.
Fossiletself.widgets[widget]: . and [], which is first calculate?
nesl247hays: I did about 2 months ago
haysironfroggy: I still like gentoo
Fossiletnot clear, seems to me
nesl247I think all apps were fixed for it
haysnesl247: how'd you do it?
nesl247hays: Just unmask python2.5, then update python..
Then run python-updater
ironfroggyhays: how long have you been addicted?
haysoh, there's still some open things
ironfroggy: since 2002 I think
ironfroggyFossilet: tell me, please, how do you think the [] even could be evaluated first? what would it be evaluated on?
deltabFossilet: self.widgets
mgranthays: build your own distro ;)
haysironfroggy: I like the startup scripts and I like the amortized pain of upgrading vice all at once pain most non-source distros have
deltabironfroggy: it could look up widget first but it doesn't
ironfroggyhays: i was using almost seven years. heavily, too. multiple desktops and deployed servers. i was hooked real bad.
haysnesl247: well that's an option... They have a bug on python 2.5 and a few problems still remain (they look noncritical though)
deltabFossilet: you can use dis to see exactly how code is interpreted
haysironfroggy: then what
deltab>>> def f(): self.widgets[widget]
...
>>> from dis import dis
ironfroggydeltab: i cant imagine a language that would stab me in the brain that hard every day.
deltabdis(f)
haysK stabs me in the brain when I try to read it
deltabironfroggy: x * (y + z)
ironfroggydeltab: thats different. mathematical rules take control there.
Fossiletdeltab: print self.widgets['g1'] gives me a gtk.Label object. but print self.g1 says AttributeError. (g1 is one key of widgets)
haysironfroggy: so what happened?
Fossiletdeltab: how can I get self.g1?
ironfroggybrb
deltabgetattr(self, g1)
hays( * x ( + y z ) )
Fossiletbut I got attributerror
