render1and then restart it when i turn it back on, eventually want to map the script to a hotkey so i can quickly turn on/off my touchpad
koshsproingie: none of those things you mentioned change the object type, when I make a generator, string, dict etc I expect them to be a particular type and I can look in them to find stuff out about them
sproingie: same with custom classes
SargunI'm writing a program that does TCP streaming
how do I tell how saturated the last mile is becoming?
koshno idea on how to find out how saturated the connection is or where the last mile is either ;)
sproingiebah. can't subclass generator anyway
you can subclass int, but not generator. jeez.
koshyou could report it as a bug
sproingiei expect it's more a deliberate 'final class' design optimization
the runtime doesn't have to worry about any particular generator being polymorphic
freeone3000Is there a good optimizer for python?
Jabapythpyrex
freeone3000Thanks.
marcin_anthi guys
I got a short question - what is the best way to serve web applications written with python?
koshI doubt these is any best way
marcin_antHere http://bluszcz.net/wiki/Benchmarks_cgi_fastcgi_modpython_psp is a benchmark
koshI use zope and others use other things
marcin_antshowing that mod_python is fastest
deltabsproingie: you can't directly instantiate generator either
Jerubmarcin_ant: django, zope, turbogears, cherrypy.
marcin_antimho zope has really big hardware requirements
Jerubmarcin_ant: mod_python is more or less the worst choice.
koshmarcin_ant: fastest at hellow world means squat in my experience
marcin_antok so.. first thing - should I serve with apache or use dedicated python server?
Jerubmarcin_ant: both
marcin_antzope, turbogears has their own application servers right?
Jerubmarcin_ant: serve static content through a web server (apache, if you must) and then use a python application server to handle dynamic content.
marcin_antJerub: ok that's quite reasonable
Jerub: so then which python server?
koshdepends on what your app needs to do
Jerubmarcin_ant: I would read the docs of the ones I mentioned, and decide which one is best for you.
koshif you need something like a content management system or very fine grained security then zope is a good idea
Jeruboh, and twisted is there too, but that's more appropriate if you're actualyl doing network stuff as well as wbe
marcin_antkosh: I had zope for a quite short time - serving zenoss monitoring and it was nightmare :(
sproingiemarcin_ant: TG uses cherrypy
koshsome people have problems with zope and some don't
I have been using it for a number of years now without major issues
sproingiewell if ya ever have trouble with zope, kosh is the guy to ask
