sproingiei'd settle for being able to change the builtin generator type that's instantiated by a gencomp
marienzhmm, dunno.
existing setup makes it easier to see what's going on under the covers
koshsproingie: why?
sproingie: I have to admit that kind of thing would bother me
sproingiekosh: one could add operations like chaining directly to them
*shrug*
basically i want to be able to turn python into icon
koshsproingie: I just don't like the idea of something hooking into the system and making a basic type act differently
if you want a different type then make it directly and obviously
sproingiewell, i can wrap every gencomp in another iterator
myiter(x for x in ...)
but it seems kind of a waste
roderykOT: how can I get emacs to auto-indent the next line in python mode when I hit enter?
cattackI found the package. It was in an download repo I did not have configured for my box so I was unable to locate it thorugh RPM searchs.
koshsproingie: I would prefer it that way, so later when I am debugging code I don't have to wonder where a method magically came from
sproingieroderyk: (define-key 'python-mode-map "\r" 'newline-and-indent)
whups, define-key doesn't take a symbol
(add-hook 'python-mode-hook (lambda () (define-key python-mode-map "\r" newline-and-indent)))
kosh: java is over that-a-way
roderyksproingie: hmm, still no go...
koshsproingie: what does java had to do with it?
sproingie: python is very explicit about those things
sproingiekosh: it's a language that's perfectly predictable, no funny surprises about where methods come from
kosh: perfectly well-suited for Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Coders
koshsproingie: python is predictable and it has been
Explicit is better than implicit.
from the python philosophy
roderyksproingie: ah, it works now - thanks!
sproingieemacs++
python is chock full of implicitness
property() springs immediately to mind
to say nothing of __getattr__
render1hi all, can anyone tell me why this script won't work? http://www.pastebin.ca/362736
sproingiei think the only tolerable solution to overriding the default generator class would be to make the override scoped
deltabrender1: what doesn't work about it?
render1it won't kill syndaemon
deltabdoes current ever equal "0"?
render1yea, basically syndaemon sets touchpadoff to 1 while typing and then after -i <seconds> it sets it back to 0
so i am trying to make a script to kill it when i want to turn the touchpad on my laptop completely off
