scrottie(man screen for more)
Chris62vwthis is perfect!!
scrottieChris62vm: then get out your checkbook and send the EFF some dough.
Chris62vwI have these huge monitors and I don't need to see so much of irssi...
alesterscreen is one of those things that I want to like, but can't.
Chris62vwI love screen. life would suck without it
scrottiefour desktops, each with about 5 xterms, each xterm probably being attached to one of a few screen sessions, many on remote systems...
sometimes it takes me five minutes to figure out where I'm going
Chris62vwscrottie, thanks again; this is definitely going to change the way I do things
Ani-_Chris62vw: you mean the way you are not going to do things? :)
scrottieperhaps that's why I encourage Chris62vm just to fire up a second putty rather than try to split windows ;)
Chris62vwmy screen session has 10 windows connected to 8 different computers
scrottieChris62vm, you're welcome
Ani-_Chris62vw: now you will be reading a lot more of IRC. :)
Chris62vwAni-_, oh no, I'm gonna keep it in this mode!!
scrottieahhh, for me, each remote system has its own screen session
Chris62vwnah :-

scrottieI always know if there was a reboot when I connect... my screen session is gone.
Ani-_Chris62vw: exactly. With your irc client always displayed. :)
DavemanHi Ani
Ani-_Bye Daveman
Daveman:(
Wait, don't leave yet :p
scrottieChris62vm: if you switch to Linux, hypothetically, there are window managers based on screen... that use the same keys (different escape key though) and let you split you desktop into regions, horizontally and vertically.
Ani-_You want me to stay? :(
Davemanyes, for a moment, please
You mentioned earlier that you have had success using DBI sth NAME?
scrottieAni-_: thanks for translating for Chris62vm. I was getting terminally confused.
Davemanheh
Chris62vwthis is good because I have two monitors, so one putty + one screen looks like two different screen sessions
Ani-_Daveman: No. That's not what I said.
Daveman-_-
Yeah yeah
Ani-_Daveman: You asked about anyone. I said yes. Anyone did had success using it. But I'm not that anyone.
DavemanYou said you weren't 'anyone' ;p
scrottieI love having a dozen machines around the house attached to the same screen, all with their bells on. Mash escape in vi and hear a chorus of dings from the whole place =)
DavemanSo, has anyone here ever used the NAME statement attribute before?
Ani-_Daveman: any particular reason why you want to use them?
