| mauke | know what? |
| EricL | Hmm...what module is good for tie'ing a hash to a file? |
| dkr | was Scalar::Util added to core modules? |
| rmah | yes |
| Ani-_ | corelist: Scalar::Util |
| buubot | Scalar::Util was added to Perl5.007003 |
| rmah | buubot is the buubotiest of all buubots |
| dkr | ah, damn, my timezone update included updated DateTime.pm which uses it, so my older untis with perl-5.6.x broke although to very confuing DateTime only uses it certain cases, it seems. |
| wyleyrabbit | Hi everyone. I'm not sure if this is an Apache question, or a Perl question. We have a test server that runs linux and we have some apache virtual servers set up. Inside the cgi-bin dir on the server, we have a perl script that runs fine but only if we comment out the "SuexecUserGroup" line; otherwise we get a "premature end of script headers" entry in the error log and the script doesn't run. What would the workaround for this be? |
| EricL | wyleyrabbit: Sounds like a user/group ownership (or possibly permissions mode) issue. |
| wyleyrabbit | EricL, it very well could be. |
| simcop2387-tv | i want a web server thats written in awk, that runs cgi written in awk |
| Mhoram | yes, check the permissions on the script and the directory it's in |
| simcop2387-tv | and a browser written in awk to boot! |
| Teratogen | an operating system, written in awk |
| simcop2387-tv | don't be silly, awk isn't self hosting i think |
| LisaLaptop | hi simcop2387-tv |
| simcop2387-tv | hey sorry just got here again |
| wyleyrabbit | EricL, aha. That was exactly what it was. the permissions were correct, but the owner was root:root. Changed it to the owner of the dir and voila. Thanks! |
| EricL | wyleyrabbit: No worries. Enjoy Now can someone point me to a HOWTO on tie'ing a (complex record) to a file? |
| mauke | what part are you having problems with? |
| EricL | mauke: Where to start. That's why I want a HOWTO so I only need to bug you folks if I can't figure it out. |
| mauke | first you learn perl |
| buu | EricL: This is so not the right way to do it. |
| cfedde | EricL: not much need for a tie. Just use Storable. EricL: do you want to status between parent and child via the hash? or just report on compleation. |
| JavaWoman | hammock time! |
| cfedde | Completion even... |
| JavaWoman | night all! |
| static_perl | watch out for spiders |
| EricL | cfedde: Its not about reporting the status back. |
| rmah | hug a spider for me, JavaWoman |
| cfedde | EricL: what is it about then? |
| EricL | I have a useragent going out and picking up data about websites and I want it to return its findings into a parent hash. |
| rmah | I need to watch Ghost Dog again |
