| buu | And much suckage ensues. |
| rmah | affffk: asking about what editor to use at your stage is like asking what brand of scapel you should use for surgeries when you're taking your first bio course on your path to becoming a doctor |
| moepman | Gtk2::Gdk::Pixbuf->new_from_file($filename); <-- this brings up an error, that the filr format could not be determined, but the file is a regular JPEG |
| Elly | ftp://ftp.cpan.org/pub/CPAN/src/5.0/perl-5.6.2.tar.gz |
| Daveman | Ellies |
| Elly | enjoy your AIDS |
| shaggyoaf | affffk: hate to contradict you but I think it's important to put out that it would be more correct to say that the most well-developed plugins for eclipse focus on Java |
| buu | ELLY. |
| affffk | Fine, well if you can't suggest a good IDE |
| shaggyoaf | affffk: there's nothing about the eclipse framework that precludes it from being a good IDE for other things |
| affffk | I'll just have to find one on sourceforge or something |
| shaggyoaf | affffk: I'm *fairly* happy with the e-p-i-c plugin for perl |
| Teratogen | what's wrong with vim? |
| Daveman | D: |
| Elly | BUU. |
| Daveman | gumbybrain: vim? |
| GumbyBRAIN | Gumbybrain, vim 64gb files 15000 eur. |
| rmah | affffk: I did: Komodo |
| Daveman | :D |
| xand | I have perl 5.6.1 |
| Daveman | :D |
| affffk | Well, I need one I can see the webpages in obviously |
| shaggyoaf | affffk: and if you look up tasklist for vim, you might find it's not as primitive as you thought it was :) |
| action | rmah likes komodo |
| rmah | likes komodo |
| Elly | vim is actually pretty good, yes |

| Elly | emacs' syntax highlighting for perl sucks :( |
| moepman | Gtk2::Gdk::Pixbuf->new_from_file($filename); <-- this brings up an error, that the filr format could not be determined, but the file is a regular JPEG |
| action | affffk doesn't think vi or vim anything, I just need an IDE which will let me run webpages locally to test |
| affffk | doesn't think vi or vim anything, I just need an IDE which will let me run webpages locally to test |
| Daveman | Elly, the numerous vim plugins are more than sufficient ;) |
| shaggyoaf | affffk: oops, typo... I meant 'taglist' |
| LeoNerd | affffk: You seem to be under some sort of misapprehension on what perl is and isn't... |
| affffk | probably I think its serverside scripting |
| shaggyoaf | affffk: to run web pages locally to test, you might want to look at the web tools platform for eclipse |
| Daveman | heh |
| LeoNerd | Or just install a webserver? |
| Elly | moepman: CPAN does not know about Gtk2::Gdk? |
| Daveman | :) |
| rmah | affffk: you don't really know what you're doing yet. you need to learn more about how the client (browser) interacts with the server and how back end applications (where perl can come into play) work with the http server and the browser. that's not meant to be offensive even if it sounds like it. |
