#suse

<q27> ok
<microchip_> vsftpd = very secure ftp daemon
<schteff> does anybody know anything :)
<ReAn[SuSE]> !beryl @ schteff
<SUSEhelp> schteff: Beryl is a composite manager (fork of compiz). To install it on openSUSE, see http://en.opensuse.org/Beryl
<microchip_> schteff: you nean compiz and beryl?
<schteff> ah okay thx =)
<schteff> is it difficult to install?
<ReAn[SuSE]> ive been trying to install it all day
<ReAn[SuSE]> lol
<ReAn[SuSE]> but im different
<ReAn[SuSE]> cuz im using SuSE 10.1
<schteff> ah ok i will test it too :)
<ReAn[SuSE]> where's a good mirror for the 10.1 repo ?
<ReAn[SuSE]> nvm
<ReAn[SuSE]> found one
<kkathman> ReAn[SuSE]: you might honestly want to consider upgrading to 10.2, its a much better release, and isnt bugfilled. 10.1 is so bad, it actually would be better for you to be on 10.0 :)
<ReAn[SuSE]> how long would the upgrade take?
<q27__> Anyone have suse 10.2?
<kkathman> ReAn[SuSE]: doesnt take that long, once you get the media - the 1st 3 CDs should do it
<kkathman> I have 10.2, and most do since its the most current
<q27__> What do you like most about suse 10.2
<ReAn[SuSE]> could i download the 10.2 mini-disc and do a net-install off a web-repo?
<kkathman> q27__: stability, speed (esp in KDE)
<q27__> kool
<schteff> so i've installed it
<schteff> and now there's a reed diamond
<kkathman> ReAn[SuSE]: thats I dont know...typically you put the 1st CD in, and choose "upgrade" and it does the rest
<q27__> I've tried just about everything using suse. Just haven't done the DMZ thing yet
<ReAn[SuSE]> im just not in the mood to download another fucking DVD
<q27__> Anyone got DMZ SETUP?
<schteff> but how can i change it to the cube?
<kkathman> ReAn[SuSE]: its your choice, but you are on the worst SUSE release ever, 10.1
<kkathman> !beryl @ schteff
<SUSEhelp> schteff: Beryl is a composite manager (fork of compiz). To install it on openSUSE, see http://en.opensuse.org/Beryl
<ReAn[SuSE]> kkathman: you know, it'd be worth it if i could get it to stop BEEPING ON MY DANMED PC SPEAKER WHEN I GET TO LOGIN
<schteff> yes i have already done this
<kkathman> sounds like a hardware issue
<kkathman> schteff: great
<schteff> but how can i start the cube?
<kkathman> schteff: alt-f2 then type beryl-manager and hit return
<q27__> hey schteff: you have dmz setup?
<q27__> ddd
<schteff> hm nothing
<aka_druid> ReAn[SuSE], and here is a notice for you: Im not in the mood to let screaming children whining in #suse
<aka_druid> one and only warning
<kkathman> schteff: then you didnt install properly
<q27__> haha
<schteff> if i do this a little red diamond is bouncing on my mouse
<schteff> and then the red diamond ist and the task bar
