#ruby-lang

<cdcarter> sure
<cdcarter> dont ask to ask, just ask
<DopeSick> 1,10?10->ohsix10<-1,10?, thank you! :P
<Olathe> Great lobsters of nick completion !
<DopeSick> Thanks...
<Olathe> Eww.
<cdcarter> colloquy flipped out on whatever you posed
<DopeSick> I was wondering if i am able to use interface in ruby?
<cdcarter> said*
<cdcarter> use interface?
<Olathe> Interface like Java ?
<DopeSick> 15,10=5@9>2YesDad9<5@15=, like Java
<DopeSick> Wtf...
<Olathe> Interfaces are sort of automatic.
<Olathe> If the method is there, you can call it.
<cdcarter> ruby does not have interfaces
<DopeSick> Hmm
<Olathe> (aka duck typing)
<aasmith> all they serve to add is TYPE SAFETY!
<cdcarter> what do you need to do?
<aasmith> (ruby isnt safe) ;)
<DopeSick> Hmm
<DopeSick> I'm still learning
<Olathe> Ruby runs with scissors.
<aasmith> heheh
<DopeSick> So now im able to script and stuff
<DopeSick> so i was wondering if i could make an actual program
<DopeSick> just like in Java
<Olathe> Yep.
<DopeSick> With textboxes, buttons, comboboxes and stuff, you know?
<cdcarter> you pretty much can, just code your classes, and instead of a main method, you
<cdcarter> just have it at the end
<cdcarter> ooh
<Olathe> You'll need something like Gtk or something for the UI.
<cdcarter> he wants a GUI
<slushie> Tk ;)
<DopeSick> Graphic User Interface?
<Olathe> I've never done GUIs in Ruby (and rarely anywhere else)
<DopeSick> But, I may have to use the same commands and scripts, right?
<DopeSick> like, my classes, my def's, my if's, else's, and stuff?
<slushie> you can make a gui in ruby, there are bindings for tk and gtk too i believe
<cdcarter> yea
<DopeSick> I'm sorry to sound too noobish, but well, I'm still studying it... =T
<cdcarter> DopeSick: you just write the backend, and then you pick a library, and write a frontend that accesses your classes
<DopeSick> Well, can you help me with this TK and GTK things?
<slushie> http://www.ruby-doc.org/docs/ProgrammingRuby/html/ext_tk.html
<slushie> thats a nice intro to ruby's tk bindings
<DopeSick> 6[1012o10hsix6], I'm using SciTE to make the scripts, btw, what do you guys, say?
<oGMo> colors are evil
<slushie> and they give me a headache :|
