<JimDangle> yeah now i get what you mean
<JimDangle> i just went too far
<JimDangle> when i shouldve stopped at sec^2% = (y/x)'
<JimDangle> and i know y and x
<JimDangle> but i went further than i shouldve
<arctanx> Trixsey: did you try the code I linked to above?
<Trixsey> arctanx, yes
<Trixsey> how about this...
<JimDangle> so im done
<JimDangle> with sec% = sqrt(1/10)
<srart> no
<JimDangle> oh and tan^-1
<JimDangle> i need to tan-1 the sec%?
<srart> I lied a little, thats not what were tring to find
<JimDangle> oh
<srart> damn, I need to do it on paper, give me a sec
<JimDangle> ok
<TrollAndProud> Just curious: In a Matrix why does 'm' stand for rows and 'n' for columns?
<Syzygy-> TrollAndProud: Because.
<TrollAndProud> I hope there's more coming
<smtp_> hey
<arctanx> at least it lets you be consistent if you have an n-dimensional matrix
<Kasadkad> It's because in Latin, the words were "mrow" and "ncolumn"
<arctanx> hah nice one Kasadkad
<Trixsey> Actually I'd have to take both c and d into consideration in my inner loops... arctanx: how about this: http://pastebin.ca/363204
<smtp_> In "min{d(k, i) + len(i, l) | k + 2 <= i <= n}, does anyone know what the part after the | is? What's the second argument of the minimum function..??
<Syzygy-> TrollAndProud: Not really; it's an arbitrary choice dependent on who's writing and what letters they felt like.
<Syzygy-> And I can just as well talk about an axb-matrix, for instance.
<TrollAndProud> Just wondering why in math books and comp sci it's always m and n
<Syzygy-> It's not.
<Syzygy-> Not always.
<arctanx> Trixsey: that seems incorrect. c = current column, d = current row. yet to sum everything in a column, you take the entry in every row (correct), but use d, the current row number for your column in the line SumC = SumC+A(e,d);
<Syzygy-> And when it is, it often is because n is the "most important" digit the author is thinking about, and m is "another important digit".
<Syzygy-> That, and ingrained culture.
<Syzygy-> i.e. "everyone else does it"
<TrollAndProud> surprised cs doesn't use x and y
<Trixsey> arctanx, that's wrong :p
<Trixsey> I want to sum current col+row, not just fetch data in current position
<Trixsey> read my description :)
<arctanx> Trixsey: you mean you wish, for say, B(1,2), to take the entire 1st row of A, sum that, take the entire 2nd column of A, sum that, then add the two sums together, then put that in B(1,2)?
<Trixsey> yes :P
<srart> JimDangle: sec%|h=30 = 30sqr(2)
<arctanx> Trixsey: well I'm 98% certain you're heading in the wrong direction, good luck with it
<JimDangle> srart ok
<srart> so sec^2(%)d%/dt|30 = (30sqr(2))^d%/dt|30
<JimDangle> k
<srart> so sec^2(%)d%/dt|30 = (30sqr(2))^2 *d%/dt|30
<srart> sorry missed ^2 last ti,e
<JimDangle> damn it im still lost :(
<JimDangle> i think its because of doing stuff over the internet
