<briareus> if you have a known average velocity (time and position elements), to find instantaneous velocity do you not take the limit as t goes to zero of delta x over delta t?
<JimDangle> i have a couple related rate problems -- http://bazzionline.com/math180wi07/assignment_11.pdf -- that im not sure if im going about right. so far im at 2xx' + 2yy' = 2dd'. and d = sqrt(23300) at 12 hours later
<`m0> Olathe: it worked like a charm!!!
<`m0> Olathe: Wow... I had like 5 if statements in my recurssion and this one has 1
<JimDangle> 2 hours later*
<`m0> I had this for my recursion:p http://rafb.net/p/efVtNs12.html
<`m0> and floodfill is just 4 lines :p
<asphyxia> Kasadkad: I have to show that for a natural number n, and for the map Q : ZZ -> ZZ/n, z -> [z]_n, there exists a map \tilde Phi : ZZ/n -> ZZ/n_1 x ... x ZZ/n_k so that \tilde Phi composed with Q is Phi
<JimDangle> did you choose to use c# on your own or what
<asphyxia> that iff n_i | n, for all i
<asphyxia> i = 1,...,k
<`m0> JimDangle, yea I used c#
<JimDangle> :(
<`m0> what :)
<JimDangle> well its not the c# thats bad
<asphyxia> Kasadkad: The map Phi is the map, that proves the CRT
<JimDangle> i like c# i just dont like the .net framework
<`m0> tell me why you don't like .net framework
<asphyxia> Or, it doesnt really prove, I think
<`m0> it is much better than java by numerous stuff
<JimDangle> because of the clr
<JimDangle> yeah it is
<JimDangle> but thats part of the point
<Kasadkad> asphyxia: and phi-tilde has to be an isomorphism
<`m0> :)
<Kasadkad> Or a homomorphism, rather
<JimDangle> it being like java
<Kasadkad> An injective homomorphism even?
<asphyxia> Kasadkad: Yeps, homomorphism
<`m0> we use C++ for some stuff, and c# is a higher level language above c++
<asphyxia> Only, this course is called introduction to discrete mathematics and algebra
<`m0> JimDangle: C# is way diff than java :)
<JimDangle> i dont really find c# to offer any advantage really
<asphyxia> And I'm a freshman, who hasnt learned about that in college yet :)
<JimDangle> i mean it has more, yeah
<`m0> JimDangle: you don't ake their NET into advantage :p
<JimDangle> its not too much higher
<JimDangle> i dont like how how you have to type access specifiers before each member function
<JimDangle> but the way it handles strings for small string operations is nice
<`m0> hehe
<JimDangle> i like doing stuff with regular win32 on its own with c or c++
<JimDangle> and they yield faster binaries
<`m0> yea
<srart> JimDangle: Java +Jyton ~= C#, .net + ironpython, both really good, .net has the slight advantage of not having to turn the other language into a jar.
<`m0> lol
<`m0> C# is way different than java
<`m0> It depends on taste
<`m0> And my taste among those two are C#
<JimDangle> i probably wouldnt turn down a decent paying job if i had to use either one
<`m0> for many reasons :)
