<chewed-on> qupada: so . . .
<chewed-on> to mount USB devices I would type. . .
<chewed-on> mount /dev/sda /media/USB -o exec ?
<qupada> you can't mount /dev/sda, but otherwise yes
<qupada> try /dev/sda1
<chewed-on> ?
<chewed-on> The properties show that my USB is mounted as /dev/sda
<madd_matt> chewed-on, mount /dev/sda1
<madd_matt> Most likely anyways.
<chewed-on> This is one of the lines that came up when I type mount: /dev/sda on /media/USB DISK type vfat (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,shortname=winnt,uid=500)
<qupada> well if it is you've got a really screwy system. normal devices need partitions on them before you can have filesystems
<chewed-on> Uh . ..
<chewed-on> [root@localhost ~]# mount /dev/sda1 /media/USB -o exec
<chewed-on> mount: you must specify the filesystem type
<chewed-on> What does that mean ?
<chewed-on> qupada: any ideas ?
<qupada> -t vfat
<chewed-on> so . . .
<chewed-on> mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /media/USB -o exec ?
<chewed-on> actually
<chewed-on> mount /dev/sda /media/USB -o exec worked :)
<chewed-on> I needed to create a directory in the media folder called "USB" first.
<chewed-on> I thought Linux would create a folder there if it doesn't already exist ?
<chewed-on> Oh yeah! it's working hehe.
<chewed-on> vdv, qupada, THANK YOU VERY MUCH GUYS!
<qupada> no problem
<chewed-on> vdv: by the way, you said you used VIM right ?
<chewed-on> Which version are you using ?
<vdv> yes
<vdv> 7.0
<chewed-on> I'm using VIM version 7 and it's really stuffing up for me.
<chewed-on> when I try to delete characters by pressing the backspace button, it just moves the cursor left without deleting the characters.
<chewed-on> Then when I type something, it started to overwrite the letters.
<chewed-on> vdv: do you know how to make it so it works like the old VIM or other text editor, where you press backspace on the keyboard and it deletes characters to the left of the cursor ?
<madd_matt> chewed-on, thats how it works for me -- are you in insert mode?
<vdv> chewed-on, this is kde channel, for vim questions go to #vim
<chewed-on> :)
<chewed-on> madd_matt: yes, I'm in insert mode.
<chewed-on> This started happening when I changed to version 7.
<chewed-on> The old version worked properly, but it didn't have any graphical mode so I decided to install version 7.
<chewed-on> vdv: will do, thakns.
<chewed-on> Now I have a new problem.
<chewed-on> I can't write to the USB now.
<chewed-on> I need root to write to it.
<chewed-on> Any ideas how I can change the permission so my normal user account can write to the USB ?
<thiago> wrong channel, chewed-on
<thiago> ask in your distribution's channel
<chewed-on> OK.
<otwin> hi - I want to configure a second panel I just added but right-click -> configure panel always applies to the first panel. I have done this on other installs but can't remember how... kde 3.5.5, btw
<Renze> otwin: dcop kicker kicker restart, and try configuring the panel again
