#kde
<impulze> troy: any idea?
<peppe> flight: oh yes, it should be easy to use, with a good color theme, things should be organized in a smart way etc... but this doesn't necessarily implies "let's copy windows" or "let's copy mac"
<troy> impulze: no, I have no printer :P
<troy> wow, lots of work in krunner over last few days... aseigo's been busy :)
<logixoul> P-Luc_Auclair: konqueror in trunk supports opacity
<MajorPayne> How do I stop KDE from changing my X config. I have it just the way I like it but I have to restore it when ever I turn my computer on. I edit xorg.conf myself. I don't know if it is kde that is changing it, but it might be.
<impulze> MajorPayne: don't run kde as root?!
<peppe> a user that easily succeeds to find his way in a new environment is an happy user, and *this* should be the target. I know that copying existing systems is a way to achieve that target, but if KDE is a different and in a way more powerful system than others it's a good idea to try to express its strength
<slyfox> Is there a way to mkae Kmail auto highlight miss spelled words ? Like all other email clients and sites do ?
<MajorPayne> imagine: I don't log onto kde as root.
<troy> logixoul: oh cool! I heard that it had received some new CSS3 loving, but I didn't know how much :)
<impulze> MajorPayne: then check the permissions
<MajorPayne> I don't know what user ubuntu uses as default.
<logixoul> troy: AFAIK it supports 100% of CSS 3
<troy> logixoul: sweet!
<logixoul> troy: yeah check it out http://www.css3.info/khtml-356-is-the-most-css3-compliant-of-all/
<slyfox> found it - option automatic spelling. Wonder why it is not enabled by default ?
<peppe> slyfox: yes, of course
<MajorPayne> humm, impulze root root.
<peppe> slyfox: heh :)
<slyfox> peppe: why it is not enabled by default ?
<logixoul> troy: ok, maybe not 100% :)
<troy> MajorPayne: then KDE shouldn't actually be modifying that file, X is probably doing it
<Maki> can i take out the basic panel?
<logixoul> Maki: basic?
<Maki> the first panel
<wolsni> Maki: I think setting it to autohide is as good as you can do
<peppe> slyfox: dunno. maybe not all users want that, or have the dictionaries installed
<wolsni> well, you can killall kicker
<logixoul> Maki: I don't get it, what do you plan to use instead?
<MajorPayne> troy: Ok, thanks. I think this is a question for #ubuntu
<Maki> kasbar
<Maki> and menubar
<logixoul> aha
<logixoul> the following should do it
<logixoul> kwriteconfig --file ~/.kde/share/autostart/panel.desktop --group "Desktop Entry" --key Hidden true
<logixoul> I'm not sure if it'll preserve kasbar and the menubar tho
<logixoul> try it
<chavo> no kicker needs to be running to have the kasbar and menubar
<thagirsu> hello ..
<thagirsu> english / german ? :)
<logixoul> chavo: yeah but perhaps that .desktop file will only stop the main panel component from showing
<troy> english, go to #kde.de for german
<thagirsu> k thanks :)
<troy> thagirsu: we won't laugh at your english though, we promise...
<thagirsu> :D
<Maki> i dont have home/maki/kde/share/autostart/panel.desktop
<Maki> on kubuntu
<thagirsu> good that i can't hear it :)
<logixoul> Maki: that's no problem, it'll be autocreated
