<renihs> hmm
<renihs> is that a 2.6.20?
<caze_donfusion> pekster what does your /etc/fstab look like?
<rage_> nah, haven't updated kernel for a while
<rage_> 2.6.17
<misc--> I was wondering if someone could check out this five line peice of art regarding the traffic shaper 'tc' - will this create a separate class (dev eth0 and tun0) that have a *total* of 320kibts, or will it create a separate class that *each* have 320kbit? http://rafb.net/p/8qU8Bs58.html
<pekster> caze_donfusion: http://rafb.net/p/3TwogO82.html
<lng> is it possible to install solaris app on gentoo?
<lng> bin app
<BLuFFaLo> k guys
<BLuFFaLo> http://rafb.net/p/iBwoB257.html
<pekster> caze_donfusion: that fstab shouldn't have anything to do with grub and bootloaders though
<caze_donfusion> other hard disk is /dev/hda ?
<edit_lp2> misc--, i think that looks ok
<caze_donfusion> true but i wanted to see what your hda sda crap was like
<BLuFFaLo> that is without the lines added from http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_nVidia_GL_Desktop_Effects
<pekster> caze_donfusion: hdd, but yes. The Linux drive is a SATA, and it shows up as (hd0) under grub because the BIOS boots the SATA drive first
<misc--> edit_lp2: yeah... I want to make it so that eth0 and tun0 have a combined 320kbit, I don't want them both to have 320kbit each
<pekster> caze_donfusion: /dev/hdd under Linux (the XP drive) is (hd1) under grub at boot time (oposite of what you see in my tap-completion in Linux at non-boot)
<pekster> caze_donfusion: Also, fdisk -l /dev/hdd reports this: http://rafb.net/p/5Ti59824.html
<Kalidarn_1> anyone had a problem with Wolfenstein Enemy Territory plays all it's sound in fast forward? ive had a look about but it hasn't revealed much, I have a Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)?
<romanos> just wondering, do i have to do all the steps from the handbook verbatim?
<romanos> huh?
<niv_one_three> hi
<dragonheart> romanos: if you understand what they are then you propbably know if they can be skipped
<niv_one_three> does anyone knows how to print an html from shell?
<niv_one_three> I rember cups can render files
<dragonheart> romanos: if you want advice on a particular section just ask
<romanos> see
<wifiisevil> guys I'm too frustrated :(. I need to get the 2.6.19-r5 amd64 kernel on a usb to install gentoo. Where do I get it from? I don't get it :( do I get it from grp?
<wifiisevil> and how big would it be?
<Boohbah> niv_one_three: links
<niv_one_three> Boohbah: can't I use cups?
<wifiisevil> I found a file called " 2.6.19-rc5-arnd1.diff.bz2 ". that is the right kernel number. is it it?
<wifiisevil> it is only 200kb or something.
<pekster> wifiisevil: You're talking the tarball necessary in distfiles for the kernel?
<wifiisevil> I'm talking the tarball I need to install the kernel in a networkless gentoo install.
<BLuFFaLo> renihs did u see my pastebin?
<dragonheart> wifiisevil: start with the 2.6.19 generic kernel. i'll try to give you a list of patchs on that
<wifiisevil> I am really frustrated because it is so hard without a network since the guide and everything expects you have a network, but my wifi card is weird and I won't be getting an ethernet cable in weeks. On top of that I need my gentoo box now. Argh :@:@ :S
<WizardJames> whats the thing to tell all the things that are installed?
<wifiisevil> 2.6.19 generic kernel? I'm not sure what that means. My mirror is called: http://mirror.pacific.net.au/linux/Gentoo/distfiles/.
<pekster> wifiisevil: All you should need is to download the gentoo-sources tarball for the version you want and your arch from a Gentoo mirror, and copy that to distfiles
<wifiisevil> okay. sources tarball. by "and your arch" you are implying I need the "sources tarball for amd64", right?
<edit_lp2> bluffalo you have the section there already
<variant> anyone here use webmin?
<wifiisevil> or is the "and your arch" referring to something else, some sort of script that optimises my system files for my architecture or something?
<guille> hi
<BLuFFaLo> edit_lp2 where? lol
<romanos> i'm at the make filesystems step on the handbook, what's that letter on making ext3? mke2fs -j 0 (zero) or o?
