<[Remy]> Ah, thanks, I'll look into it.
<NightKhaos> jwickers: odd.
<crzydrnkmofo> well one is ssh-xfer
<crzydrnkmofo> butthe one i know is sftp
<crzydrnkmofo> i've had to do it for school
<crzydrnkmofo> sftp works nicely :)
<NightKhaos> xor11u: highest version I see is 8.18 which is masked by ~x86... eix is out by a day through.
<crzydrnkmofo> [Remy], sftp is the command u want
<[Remy]> Alright
<crzydrnkmofo> damn it takes forever to download the sources for kde-meta
<bsdfox_> anyone know of a way to regulate the speed of fans like you can do with speedfan in windows?
<xor11u> NightKhaos, i know about 8.1.8, but is it possible to emerge postgresql 8.2?
<NightKhaos> mzbot: wiki bsdfox_ fan speed
<mzbot> bsdfox_: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Nvidia_Fanspeed_Auto-Adjustment
<NightKhaos> bsdfox_: hmm... might be helpful, but didn't work the way I wanted it too.
<bsdfox_> too bad my mobo is a pos via :P
<NightKhaos> xor11u: why do you need 8.2?
<NightKhaos> mzbot: wiki bsdfox_ fan control
<mzbot> bsdfox_: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Gentoo_on_HP_Compaq_nx6325
<NightKhaos> :(
<NightKhaos> bad mzbot!
<crzydrnkmofo> i have an ASUS mobo P4P800SE
<NightKhaos> bsdfox_: we'll see if jeeves can be more helpful
<NightKhaos> !google gentoo fan speed control asus
<jeeves> http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Asus_A6T
<moreon> mzbot: gentoo bsdfox_ power management guide
<mzbot> bsdfox_: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/power-management-guide.xml
<moreon> Could be something there, dunno.
<xor11u> NightKhaos, 8.2 is greater performance and for testing purpose
<NightKhaos> mzbot: wiki xor11u overlay postgresql 8.2
<mzbot> NightKhaos: nothing found
<jwickers> xor11u: i you need it, copy the 8.1.8 ebuild to an 8.2 ebuild, digest and emerge. If it cannot find the files, you will have to edit the ebuild a bit. It should work, unless there are big differences from 8.1.8 that need more complex ebuild rewriting.
<NightKhaos> mzbot: no overlays for it.
<bsdfox_> !google linux speedfan
<jeeves> http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Best/speedfan-linux.html
<bsdfox_> <-- winner
<Crypticfortune> question. so im doing my initial set up, and set my use to include ssl. then doing "emerge -uDN world" it somehow recompiled wget to use ssl before libssl.so was completed. now i can't get anything because wget is broken. how do i get portage working again?
<NightKhaos> bsdfox_: have you tired acpi4asus?
<wifiisevil> Guys, I am up to the bit where I must add locals to the local list. By default it tells me to add US ISO and german ISO or UTF8 or whatever, what is the code for Vietnamese? I plan to learn an asian language, and vietnamese is probably the easiest :P
<bsdfox_> not yet
<crzydrnkmofo> Crypticfortune, I just had that same thing happen
<Crypticfortune> crzydrnkmofo: well, if you figure out what to do, let me know.... >_<;;
<crzydrnkmofo> but it was worse, i got the sources first, all good for the build. but the revdep-rebuild failed
<crzydrnkmofo> its working now though
<Crypticfortune> wifiisevil: modern vietnamese uses roman characters afaik
<crzydrnkmofo> Ill get u the instructions from above but you will need links or firefox (or wget from the livecd works to)
<wifiisevil> I know it does, but it uses accents.
<crzydrnkmofo> Crypticfortune, You need to download these two files: http://gentoo.mirrors.tds.net/gentoo/distfiles/wget-1.10.2.tar.gz and http://gentoo.mirrors.tds.net/gentoo/distfiles/wget-1.10.2-gentoo-0.2.tar.bz2 -- stick them into /usr/portage/distfiles (of your installation, if your on the livecd you probably mounted your installation so it would be /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage/distfiles ). Then chroot into your install, and emerge wget
<moreon> crzydrnkmofo: heh thanks :P
<jwickers> wifiisevil: also be careful, if you want asian support you may need some use flags too. Vietnamese i have no idea, i use chinese
