<astinus> MeowCats: Insert a LiveCD, boot your system, and the most useful command you need is 'man <command>' :)
<Quag7> MeowCats: What's happening is, you're booting into a full Linux environment (isolinux) off of the CD. From that environment, you're partitioning your disks, and installing Gentoo Linux, on the hard drive. The prompt you're at is an isolinux prompt. If you have specific questions from there, that can be worked.

<marienz> MeowCats: you'll get significantly better support from this channel (and probably most other places, like forums) if you use the normal "manual" install. The gui installer might work, but when it doesn't you're usually on your own.

<marienz> MeowCats: when something fails during the normal install it involves the same tools most people use to admin the system after installation, so the number of people with the skills to help you is much larger.

<marienz> MeowCats: the idea is that there's no need to use different tools for the initial install than for, say, partitioning a drive added to the system, formatting it, and installing stuff.
