#gentoo
<tzaeru> it's wizards. ninja wizards. with laser beams.
<CoCo_kid594> rodger I did find some left over processes... umm i may beable to fix it without giving everyone the boot.. hehe
<EnterUsername> not using "profiles"
<tzaeru> har har.. I reinstalled the whole system approximately 40 hours ago and this far I've booted it 33 times.
<CoCo_kid594> i always believe you should never really need to reboot if I can help it..
<brianw> tzaeru: laptop?
<tzaeru> deskbottom
<marienz> hrm
<brianw> tzaeru: why rebooting so much?
<sykopomp> I just stabbed my finger with a wool sock, just as orbit finished successfully compiling
<marienz> Logix101: that's annoying. I thought that was a nonfatal message before.
<GuyFromHell> brianw: You're a genious! I knew I brought this pos up for something...
<marienz> Logix101: sec
<tzaeru> brianw, to have even small illusion of hope of getting 3D working like it should :P
<Logix101> np
<brianw> GuyFromHell: ?
<tzaeru> ou. and recompiled kernel a lot. aa loooot.
<GuyFromHell> brianw: I was going to install gentoo on my laptop :-P
<brianw> GuyFromHell: hahah
<Logix101> Seems strange no on else has had this error installing Gnome :)
<[R]> Logix101: it looks like an error in libexif for some resaon
<[R]> Logix101: switch to the ~arch version and it should work
<digital0001> Anyone with a nVidia gForce 6150 card, that got beryl running okay?
<CoCo_kid594> bingo baby.. thanks soo much for your help! aswome I got it restarted without rebooting... it was the rules manager still running..
<t35t0r> digital0001, it should have no problems
<Logix101> R how do I do that?
<[R]> Logix101: its in the hadnbook
<meeseontheleese> melodos, so thoughts, concerns, questions?
<tzaeru> marienz, http://pastebin.ca/362757 here we go.. that's what smpeg keeps telling to me x(
<marienz> Logix101: your timing is apparently unfortunate. That warning became an error about 22 hours ago.
<digital0001> t35t0r, it is up and running, just some details. When the monitor sleeps it restarts really really slow.
<Logix101> R serisouly why respond with a lame answer like rtfm
<sykopomp> Logix: echo "media-libs/libexif ~x(86 or amd64)" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
<t35t0r> digital0001, that makes no sense
<[R]> Logix101: cuz you should read the handbook
<Logix101> marienz: ouch
<marienz> Logix101: what sykopomp said should get you around it.
<testify> I'm trying to install grub via 'grub-install /dev/sda' and for some reason it continually checks /dev/fd0 for a disk. This results in 'end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0' and 'Buffer I/O error on device fd0, logical block 0'. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
<sykopomp> Logix101: And that wasn't a lame answer, you should know this if you're not going to break your system in the future
<digital0001> t35t0r, I believe you. Not to me either.
<Logix101> well what terms am I looking for ~arch?
<[R]> testify: the handbook talks about that
<digital0001> t35t0r, It goes slow when I activate the screen again that is.
<Logix101> testify --no-floppy
<sykopomp> Logix101: what version of gentoo did you install? the 64-bit (amd64) or the 32-bit (x86)?
<tanq> hah
<Logix101> 32bit
<sykopomp> then you want ~x86 there
<sykopomp> when you're done with that, RTFM, seriously
<Logix101> ok looking in handbook
