<Gnea> Gokee2: i'm really at a loss at this point :(
<tabris|away> antum1: email certs are usually diff from server certs.
<hark> Gokee2: pastebin them
<Gnea> antum1: it depends how you use the email server
<tabris|away> antum1: however, if you ask if you can use teh same cert for a mailserver and webserver, you can [except for the fact that the names will probably be diff]
<antum1> tabris|away oh, ok thanks,
<Gokee2> hark, ok its at http://pastebin.com/884199
<Gnea> antum1: i wouldn't bother purchasing an ssl cert for an email server unless a) i make sure that the IP is not on any spam blocker lists (or as little as humanly possible), b) i have a solid and secure spam filter system in place to check both inbound and outbound email, c) i can afford it :)
<hark> Gokee2: oh boy..
<hark> 1. You're running unstable, unless you've got some pinning going
<Gokee2> hark, :( I might... where do I look? I remember working with pinning a little but I am not sure...
<hark> Gokee2: dpkg -l libc6 |tail -1 ?
<Gokee2> hark, "ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-8 GNU C Library: Shared libraries"
<jZe1> dmesg tells me the right driver is loaded, that the device is using the driver but that wlan0 link is not ready
<Gokee2> hark, ya "APT::Default-release "testing";" :) I got a pin :)
<hark> !info libc6 etch
<Gokee2> only a pin in the way of my system becoming unstable... :)
<dpkg> libc6: (GNU C Library: Shared libraries), section libs, is required. Version: 2.3.6.ds1-11 (etch), Packaged size: 4590 kB, Installed size: 11032 kB
<Gokee2> hark, Well I don`t get around to running apt-get dist-upgrade all that often,,,
<Gokee2> ..
<hark> Gokee2: ok, anyway comment out the rest, keep the basic ones and debian-multimedia
<hark> then, figure out which one it is among the rest...
<hark> and add this
<hark> !etch security
<dpkg> Put "deb http://security.debian.org etch/updates main contrib non-free" in your /etc/apt/sources.list file. Regularly update your APT index and upgrade (e.g. # aptitude update && aptitude dist-upgrade) to keep up-to-date on security updates in Etch
<hark> iow, keep the #Testing one, add the above line and the debian-multimedia
<hark> oh, and replace sid with etch for the debian-multimedia one
<Gokee2> hark, ok I am still getting the error it stopes if I comment out all the main debian sources
<Gokee2> hark, If I just take out the stable source it works
<Gokee2> hark, Do I need stable for anything?
<xixor> so, I can't seem to remember my mysql user name or password, whatever I type into mysql -u <user> -p, and try a password doesn't work
<xixor> is there a way to reset it and still get at the data?
<sep> xixor, are you sure one was set ? the default is blank.
<xixor> sep: that is a good question, but I think I set one using mysqladmin
<hark> Gokee2: as i said, just keep the testing one, the security repos dpkg gave above and the debian-multimedia one. For the unofficial ones, it's up to you
<sep> xixor, http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/recover-mysql-root-password.html
<Gokee2> hark, ok thanks, now time to fix my laptop :/
<sep> xixor, you might also want to try to connect as the debian-sys-maint user, using the debian.cnf file
<sep> xixor, that might be a cleaner solution :)
<xixor> sep: thanks... I had a wordpress install on this server at one point, and it worked.. I tried to switch it to a new domain, but somewhere along the line everything is broken
<chronographer> Can someone tell me what this means and if i can fix it: hdc: irq timeout: status=0x51
<rpc> is there an easy way of stripping file type from greped file name?
<chronographer> (drivereadt seekcomplete error)
<sep> somethign like mysqladmin --defaults-file=/etc/mysql/debian.cnf command
<rpc> like ls|grep *.txt <--- i would like to see only the filename part
<sep> chronographer, is that your cdrom ?
<chronographer> yeah
<chronographer> pioneer dvd
<chronographer> new debian install
<chronographer> worked the first few boots, now has infinite loop?
