<abrotman> dylan_: issues ?
<markybob> uh?
<dylan_> abrotman, kernel issues being defined as: non-free software.
<dylan_> I will continue to use ututo, then.
<abrotman> dylan_: you mean etch's kernel will have blobs ?
<markybob> he-man was great. i had a he-man themed birthday party when i was 4 :) heh.
<mikess> abrotman: ,, markybob ,,cheers guys
<Eitan> I don't know if I broke xorg, gdm, or gnome, but something is broken. Can anyone help me figure out how to fix this?
<zu22> abrotman: oh yeah Robotech too
<abrotman> X logs are useful
<markybob> specifically error messages in them
<markybob> ;)
<olsen> zu22: i think apt is the best package management system that i've used
<snax> hi
<snax> is etch stable yet ?
<markybob> no
<talexb> Still trying to get rid of kdebluetooth .. apt-get --remove kdebluetooth gives me the same errors that I was getting through aptitude (no surprise really) .. How do I get rid of this package?
<abrotman> snax: /topic ?
<zu22> abrotman: remember that goofy show Land of the Lost? hah. and the classics I loved like Scooby Doo, Bugs Bunny and Friends, Woody Woodpecker, Popeye, Tom & Jerry
<abrotman> talexb: man apt-get
<abrotman> zu22: yes
<markybob> tom & jerry...they just dont make them like they used to ;)
<zu22> olsen: me too
<snax> im assuming no.
<snax> sigh
<abrotman> !wwer
<snax> well whats taking so long >: P
<dpkg> Etch will release WIR; SIYH. Ask me about <etch pool>, <wir>, <siyh>. Join in and help out, or see the release team's latest timeline at http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2006/12/msg00001.html ; Etch is currently frozen. For details about what this means, read http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2006/12/msg00004.html
<markybob> snail, you dont have to assume. go to debian.org. or read the topic
<litage> sorry, got disconnected. did anyone reply to my sed question while i was away?
<olsen> zu22: :)
<zu22> talexb: you try "dpkg --purge"? look at the dependencies
<markybob> or read when others answer your question right after you ask
<zu22> markybob: yeah
<abrotman> litage: you mean find ?
<Eitan> How can I set up aptitude to revert all packages that have been upgraded to backports to the non-backported, stable versions?
<snax> ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh come on.
<litage> abrotman: heh, my sed question must not've made it then =P
<markybob> snax what's your problem?
<litage> why does sed say "sed: -e expression #1, char 17: invalid reference \1 on `s' command's RHS" for this command?: sed -re 's/^\(.+\):.+/\1/g' some_file
<talexb> abrotman, Thanks, I interpret that to mean 'try -f to fix' -- it didn't.
<zu22> markybob: too much ritalin i suspect, he left :)
<markybob> zu22, i was starting to wonder how many times i'd have to answer his question. goofball :)
<talexb> zu22, thanks, tried that and still got errors from post-processing.
<mikess> markybob: Could it be a bios issue?
<zu22> markybob: you can lead em to water but you can't make em drink :P
<predder> if they refuse you can drown them though :)
<talexb> Got a dpkg-divert mismatch ..
<markybob> mikess, depends. one thing you should check are your fans. make sure the machine isnt overheating...that usually causes restarts and freezing, etc.
<zu22> talexb: it has dependencies which you must address, so if you want to remove that package you may have to remove others as well which depend on it
