#centos
<sw-> hi.. i'm getting prepared for the RHCE exam.. the last "real" redhat system I used was 7.3.. then was under centos.. any big differences between rhel/centos ?
<langiro> looking for a french channel
<Zathrus-2> didn't look for long.
<nescius> look for english lessons :
<nescius> when you're in it, try find something for me also ;
<nescius> crap! blo*** f****** keyboard!
<nescius> nevermind
<nescius> so i found bacula-client but there is no package for munin
<range> I found it in kbs-CentOS-Extra
<entr0py> I have a newly kickstarted c4.4 vm. When I telnet to the ssh port, I get "SSH-1.99-OpenSSH_3.9p1"
<entr0py> But when I try to connect with ssh, it never does a key exchange
<entr0py> However, if I drop the firewall, it works. What's up with that?
<range> Does it tell you more when you use ssh -v (-vv|-vvv)? Is the vm allowed to make outgoing connections?
<entr0py> yes, outgoing is allow, this is the standard fw kickstart config of "standard + ssh"
<entr0py> let me check on -vvv
<entr0py> i see it connects and gets the version string, but the last thing reported is "SSH2_MSG_KEXINIT sent"
<entr0py> hold on. I see some other stuff that kind worries me
<range> +h
<entr0py> http://rafb.net/p/rq10jw81.html
<entr0py> i don't know if the other stuff it's complaining about is normal or not as i don't usually use debug mode as things just work
<range> Oh the stuff with the whitespace is normal. It's looking if one of those keys is a version 1 key.
<range> The important stuff begins on line 28.
<range> I guess that the permissions on your ~/.ssh/ directory on the server side are wrong. Or the permissions on the files in it.
<entr0py> but if i drop the firewall vm it works
<range> Hmmm. Okay.
<range> 192.168.1.117 is the vm?
<entr0py> yes, let me get the fw settings.. one moment
<range> Anything in one of the log files in there? messages? secure?
<hal23456> hi all - on 18th Feb, yum automatically upgraded my samba components from version 3.0.10-1.4E.9 to version 3.0.10-1.4E.11, and since then I have not been able ot print. Is there any way to downgrade to the previous version? What would be the best way to tackle this problem?
<entr0py> well, this is interesting: /var/log/secure: Did not receive identification string from ::ffff:192.168.1.20
<range> Strange.
<entr0py> fw settings on the vm: http://rafb.net/p/Lj2nac80.html
<range> entr0py: Looks like you should use tcpdump or wireshark to see which packages are going to and from the vm.
<entr0py> range: no, i want an easy answer ;)
<range> entr0py: That looks okay to me.
<entr0py> it's the craziest thing i've seen today for sure
<range> Do you see any iptables messages in one of the log files?
<entr0py> just the regular start/stop stuff
<range> hal23456: That's strange, as the fix in samba shouldn't affect printing.
<entr0py> ok, i don't have time today to do a full wireshark debug session, i'll have to come back with more details later
<entr0py> range: thanks
<range> entr0py: Sorry, but I'm a little out of ideas.
<entr0py> range: same here, at least for now
<range> entr0py: Are you running selinux on the vm?
<entr0py> yes
<range> Or, what you could do: Stop sshd on the vm and start "sshd -ddd -p 22" as root - this should start a debug session of sshd on port 22.
<range> If SELinux allows root to do so.
<hal23456> range - do you know how closely the version that samba is at now in the yum is to the upstream provider's version?
<range> And you maybe have to use the complete path.
<range> hal23456: It's from the same sources.
