<Arrfab> Sakuya : man yum (yum is the frontend used on centos to automagically install rpm packages)
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: ok :)
<Sakuya> Evolution: so you want to tell me, to get them from ymsql.com and install tehm via yum?
<Evolution> Sakuya: not at all.
<Evolution> Sakuya: you install get them and install them via yum.
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, but, if I manually add the user to the sasldb file, then it works...but that's not a good solution for me because I'm going to be dealing with hundreds of users AND I don't like that apparently sasldb2 is in plaintext.
<Evolution> Sakuya: from your initial statement it seemed as though you had downloaded them from mysql.com but had no idea how to install them.
<Sakuya> Evolution: right, someone just told me to install it, but I dont really know how to
<wyleyrabbit> orc_orc, printing your writeup.
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: yes, I even dont have the sasldb file and although I receive the same error as you it works finely. Really amazing.
<Evolution> Sakuya: are you trying to build something against mysql? are you trying to run a program which requires mysql?
<Evolution> what are you trying to do?
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, going for a coffee. be back in a few.
<Sakuya> Evolution: I try to run a software, which needs mysql
<Sakuya> Evolution: to read the data, it needs from it
<Evolution> Sakuya: yum install mysql mysqlclient
<Sakuya> Evolution: mysql is already installed
<archangle25> whats the standard way of setting up a software raid setup on RH/CENTOS?
<archangle25> using mdadm or LV2
<Evolution> Sakuya: then you need to be more specific as to what the program is or requires
<Sakuya> Evolution: I try to run the program but it shows me an error"no such file or directory", even if I am in teh directory and the file exists
<Evolution> Sakuya: what program
<Sakuya> Evolution: a server software for a game
<Evolution> I can't see your screen, so you have to be VERY specific and help me to help you
<Evolution> Sakuya: *what* game? what software, what language is it written in
<longword> arch: LVM, if you're using it, sits on top of software RAID volumes managed by mdadm
<Evolution> what part of mysql specifically does it need?
<longword> arch: Easiest to sort it all out at install time
<Sakuya> Evolution: As far as I know, it is written in C++. It just needs the database, I loaded all the necessary things it needs into the sql database, and it also connects
<Sakuya> Evolution: I just need to install the MySQL client liebraries
<Evolution> Sakuya: you have them installed already. that's why I'm asking these questions
<Sakuya> Evolution: If they are already installed, why do 2 people tell me to install them.
<Sakuya> Evolution: It just shows the same error all the time
<Evolution> Sakuya: likely because you're not giving them the total picture for what you need, much like you're doing to me right now.
<Evolution> Sakuya: when it says 'no such file' what file does it say is missing?
<Sakuya> I pasted them the error, and both told me the same
<Evolution> Sakuya: when it says 'no such file' what file does it say is missing?
<Sakuya> Evolution: The program itself I want to run
<Sakuya> Evolution: But it is installed
<Evolution> that's in no way a database issue.
<Sakuya> Evolution: The problem is, how I do install the libraries
<orc_orc> Sakuya: you have never answered Evolution 's wquestion as to which program -- answer it or stop being coy and leave
<Evolution> Sakuya: again, you have them installed. your problem is not database related.
<Evolution> your problem is that the program is not in your path, or was improperly installed.
<Sakuya> Evolution: Then I won't understand what the mistake is.
<Evolution> Sakuya: that's what I'm trying to help you with. but your problem is not the libraries.
<Sakuya> Evolution: then tell me, what you exactly need to know
<Evolution> Sakuya: I have. everything I listed above.
<range> An exact error message would be nice for starters :)
<Evolution> What game software, how did you install it, what is the specific error (as range states), etc
