#centos

<Evolution> only the beta
<breakdisk> yup,i mean the beta.
<Evolution> and I don't believe it does, no.
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, yes, I think sendmail seems to be okay, but I can't yet rule out some issue with the sendmail.mc (I'm definitely not a sendmail guru).
<breakdisk> Evolution:thanks!
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: can you paste your sendmail.mc? I can compare it with mine (do it privately if you want)
<Evolution> don't paste in here please.
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: yes, I mean pastebin
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, sure. there's nothing especially secret in there. Here you go: http://rafb.net/p/h1v8k667.html
<wyleyrabbit> lol.
<wyleyrabbit> no worries. I know better than to flood a channel. Seen it done lots tho.
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: this line is different from mine: define(`confAUTH_MECHANISMS',`EXTERNAL GSSAPI DIGEST-MD5 CRAM-MD5 LOGIN PLAIN SASL')
<wyleyrabbit> what is yours?
<Mikaku> my line dont have the SASL parameter, it ends with the PLAIN parameter
<wyleyrabbit> someone on the MailScanner mailing list suggested that I add that. I'll remove it.
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: I use MailScanner too and I have never added such parameter
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, ok, rebuilt sendmail without that option...but no difference.
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: another difference is just a space character in this line: define(`confAUTH_OPTIONS',`A') although I'm not sure if this is relevant
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: you have added an space char between the comma char and the `A' parameter
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: and the last difference I found is in the line that causes sendmail to only listen in the IPv4 loopback address 127.0.0.1. I normaly just coment the line, and you had removed the "Addr=127.0.0.1" parameter. I dont know if this make be relevant
<Mikaku> s/make/may/
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, removing the space now.
<wyleyrabbit> hmmm. space wasn't really there; perhaps just a difference between the ` and the ' characters.
<wyleyrabbit> commented out the line re the addr line.
<wyleyrabbit> rebuilt. no workie any betterie
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: oh, dont need to rebuilt for that line, I realized that is a comented line, sorry. :(
<Mikaku> err
<wyleyrabbit> do sendmail and saslauthd run as root?
<Mikaku> yes
<wyleyrabbit> so permissions of 400 on /etc/shadow should be correct then
<Mikaku> yes it is
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: and what about /etc/pam.d/smtp ?
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, you want the permissions of that file? or the contents?
<Sakuya> COuld someone help me?
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: just contents
<wyleyrabbit> http://rafb.net/p/RaZGaV94.html
<Mikaku> the same here
<Sakuya> I need to install MySQL client libraries on CentOs, but it's on my root, so I wanted to know, how I could do that
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: there are other messages in /var/log/messages or /var/log/maillog during the email transaction that could bring us some light?
<Sakuya> anyone?
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, sure. Here: http://rafb.net/p/dEGX5M10.html
<Arrfab> Sakuya : what do you want to do exactly ?
<Sakuya> Install MySQL client libraries files on CentOs
<Evolution> Sakuya: why not use yum? why are you getting them from mysql.com?
<orc_orc> wyleyrabbit: I just went through my writeup at: http://www.owlriver.com/tips/smtp-auth/, and except for needing to have the saslauthd running , it just works on a new centos-4 setup
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: unable to open Berkeley db /etc/sasldb2: Bad file descriptor? I receive the same but with "No such file or directory"
<wyleyrabbit> orc_orc, reading your writeup
<Sakuya> Evolution: what do you mean by "yum"?
<Evolution> Sakuya: yum is the utility through which you get security updates, install software etc.
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, for troubleshooting, I "touched" the file. I've since removed that and now I get the same error as you.
