<range> archangle25: cyrus-imapd is great for big environments (or if you absolutely need filtering with sieve or if you need shared folders). But it's a beast to setup if you never worked with it before.
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: have you executed pwconv or pwunconv and leaved /etc/shadow in an inconsistent state?
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, yes, I have "MECH=shadow" there also. I tried changing it to "MECH=pam" but other than taking longer to fail, there was no improvement.
<archangle25> range, so i found out
<range> I hope not the hard way ...
<archangle25> range, dovecot worked within 5secs of installing it... n1, i use WUimap / exim for mail however were moving RHEL so i needed a test box to use RH software
<range> archangle25: Should be a drop in replacement for WU.
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, what version of saslauthd do you have?
<range> archangle25: And exim is also in CentOS.
<archangle25> yeah, def be building exim from source tho...
<archangle25> and prob and imap s/w too
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: cyrus-sasl-2.1.19-3
<range> Okay. Don't break it, because you get to keep the pieces then :)
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: 4 packages, main, plain, md5 and devel
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, I have "2.1.19-5.EL4" for all 4.
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: ops, sorry, I'm on a FC3 now, wait a sec
<Evolution> wyleyrabbit: where did you get that kernel?
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: my version is correct, I was on a Centos4
<wyleyrabbit> Evolution, ummm. Good question. Am I running something wrong?
<seanos> evolution, he's talking about cyrus-sasl version...
<Evolution> wyleyrabbit: no, I read your statement wrong. I blame a lack of caffiene
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: are you on a CentOS4 or on a RedHat?
<wyleyrabbit> Evolution, ha ha. ok, you had me worried.
<wyleyrabbit> Centos 4.4
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: it's ok 2.1.19-5.EL4 here but only with main, md5 and plain packages
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, I'm out of ideas.
<Mikaku> hmm
<seanos> wyleyrabbit: if makes feel better - I have/had same issue, was only me authing/sending mail, so just used 'saslpasswd2' to add myself, and use the /etc/sasldb2
<seanos> obviously not good/ideal if have than one/hanful of users.
<wyleyrabbit> seanos, hmmm. very interesting that you had same issue.
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: have you tried to send an email manually with the telnet command?
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, no, because I'm not sure I could make it through the authentication part of it.
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: sending mail to a local account does not need auth
<seanos> Mikaku: I assume your doing auth over smtps?
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, right. The test account on the box can send to my gmail, and receives from gmail, no problems. It's only authenticating over smtp that I've got a problem.
<Mikaku> seanos: I mean port 25
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: I mean to send a simple email manually from your computer to the SMTP serve where you have such problems
<Mikaku> placeing as a destination account a local account on there
<Mikaku> telnet smtp.yourserver.com 25
<Mikaku> etc.
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, yes, that's fine, but it doesn't need any authentication to receive that.
<DuCkNeT> how to open port on centos server ???
<wyleyrabbit> Mikaku, as I mentioned, it receives email from gmail and my other email server just fine.
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: yes, that's true. It was just to discard issues
<Mikaku> ok
<Evolution> DuCkNeT: use system-config-securitylevel, or edit /etc/sysconfig/iptables appropriately
<Mikaku> wyleyrabbit: we can discard a realying problem, isn't?
<Mikaku> *relaying
<breakdisk> hi guys,have a question.does xen-3.0 in rhel5 is now supported a un-modified o.s as guest.
<Evolution> breakdisk: rhel5 doesn't exist yet.
