klingonToeBee, I have this in my server privs: root localhost Yes ALL PRIVILEGES Yes
ToeBeeso you are logged in as root already?
klingonToeBee, what do you mean? I can log in as root through mysql console
ToeBeedid you change the password in your current session? and if so, did you FLUSH PRIVILEGES?
klingonToeBee, yes I flushed privs. I changed the pw the same day I installed mysql.
ToeBeeah so the error message is coming from some program you are writing
ah. php. well first of all, do you really need to log in as root from your php?
klingonToeBee.. well eventually I want write supportt to the db, so yes.
ToeBeeyou can grant all privs to a user on a given db... unless you are wanting to modify the mysql db itself you should really create another user. Nontheless something is still odd. Have you checked the settings in php.ini?
seekwillIn a SP or UDF, is there a way to find out if you're in a transaction?
ToeBeehaven't set up php in a while so I don't recall all the possible params but I think there might be some security stuff that is locked down by default
klingonToeBee, perhaps my script is just a pos
ToeBeewell that is always a possibility. Also you might get that error if you are using a php that was compiled against a different version of mysql especially if it spans the 4.0 -> 4.1 hop. Not sure on that though
jeeter522anyone willing to help out with a Connector/J issue ?
klingonToeBee, I rewrote the script using different connection strings and it worked :)
ToeBeewell I guess your last suggestion was right on the money then!
MrPunkinif I want to increment a field by one can I just do UPDATE `table` SET `field` + 1
ToeBeeyes
err
well almost. update table set field = field + 1
tupa```'''`'''``````````''
actionToeBee looks at tupa
ToeBeelooks at tupa
snoyes`-.-'
tupa=P
SpComb~/)_
ToeBeeI think the appropriate response to that is "try sudo rm -rf /"
hmm maybe that joke shouldn't be made around here... someone might actually try it :)
snoyes'sudo' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
tupaLoL
ToeBeeew that sounds like a cmd.exe error message
get it off me! get it OFF!
tupathere's no cure for cmd.exe
ToeBeewasn't vista supposed to have one? some actual functional command prompt?
but then of course it was axed... along with the SQL filesystem
I think the press release read something like this: "We have realized that such features and functionality are simply too awesome for us to ever actually achieve so we have stopped trying. Instead we are going to add eye candy that will suck CPU cycles and memory. Have a nice day"
tupaVista implemented a super-user like function
for admins to administer the PC
something that Unix-like systems have since de 70's
